Gemini's NOW AVAILABLE!!! I repeat, INFI FOR YOUR FIX!!

Would removing the top gaurd show the lightening treatment? If you get my drif.

Meaning how much of the gard could be removed before you see gaps under the scales?

Yea ,think that is what i mean. lol

... I assume you could remove until, well, under the scales.

Wow this one looks really awesome. Can anyone comment on how well of a camp knife this one makes? Also out of curiosity, how did the knife get its name? Thanks!

Now THAT is AWESOME!!! I am really happy to hear that! I ordered one too even before that news. Busse, above and beyond!

You & me both!

The attention to detail Busse is showing here is amazing. Offering sheaths, WITH a fitted kydex liner? Shiiiiiiiiiiit. Not gonna lie; I'm diggin the hell out of this.

Going by this picture . Not much of the top gaurd could be removed to make the spine flat.

Make the spine flat? No. But, like I said, you can remove as much of the top guard as you want without showing gaps under the scales until you you start removing under the scales  because that's the only place where there are gaps. Hard to say going by just the picture, but knowing those tang holes are 1/2" wide and seeing how the width of the steel around them is about 1/3 of the hole's diameter, I would guess those walls to be 1/6". But if you want to flatten the spine, unfortunately you'll see some gaps because the gap extends behind the spine. However, you can technically remove the whole guard.

You could try for a thumb ramp, though.

Who knows, you might come to love the guard. I sure did :D
The thumb ramp idea kind of just came out of me without thinking, but I'd be interested in seeing how that looks and works, too.

Is gaol pronounced the same way as "jail?" That'd be interesting! I agree: useless, but interesting :p

Yep . Pronounced the same & means the same thing.
Funny thing is , I have a mate ( Friend) from Pommyland ( England) that pronounces the word Jail ( Gaol) like " Joel" As in " Billy Joel".
Think its the accent thing, but they talk kinda funny in the (Mother country)U.K.:D

I really hope that the new TG stays up for sale for a while so I can save up extra funds for one for my daughter. She got a full scholarship from the Army and I would love to let her have a new TG when she leaves. Of course she will take whatever she wants when she does eventually deploy.

My questions is... will the knife with LB treatment be as tough as the original one? For example TG versus LBTG? I know that its a Busse after all.. but I am just curious. I think that the TG is more bomb proof but the LBTG will be a better slicer due to the grind, right? Correct me if I am wrong please. I am still learning. :) Anyway I will order one of these very soon!

The full convex grind of the 1st generation TG would be stronger than the large hollow grind of the LBTG. Under about any use but heavy prying it would not matter. I would bet the LBTG will be a much better slicer and be much less carry weight - Overall a superior knife except for ill-advised extreme abuse.

Here is a picture by Busse last year comparing the original to the proposed light brigade treatment.

The 1st generation is more like an axe or maul and the LBTG is more of a heavy duty slicer or knife.

Just bought my first Bussekin (RMD) and now I need to start saving for one of these. Hope they stay up there a while.

So im guessing this grind geometry compromises quite a bit of strength. But im curious how much weaker it will be. I ordered this for my ultimate shtf kind of blade. Will I be ok using this hard?

You will be just fine its a bit thinner than the original but still thick and infi can really take a beating.

I just spoke to Garth...really nice guy btw!!... this version is NOT available in the DC finish.

So it'll be Tanker grey and Canvas most likely either black or tan.

Dave, I know you're just making predictions, but I'll take your word for this one... and I know Busse stands behind its quality anyway.
I guess I'll order one now. I'm more worried about the grind type than the thickness, though.
