This cat is a survivor and is an outdoor pet along with the dog.. in the country you NEED a cat unless you want a field mice problem... We've had probably 2 cats at a time in the 5+ yrs we've been in this house, probably a total of 10 cats have been taken by wildlife... "slinky" the survivor is a big sucker, weighing in around 11+lbs... Hes not really wild as he sleeps in the garage and purrs when you pet him
and he does come when called and will follow you like a dog on a walk.. however he is wild by nature that surrounds him, he brings home and eats everything... lizards, snakes, baby rabbits, birds, mice, moles and gophers and everything between... this supplements his diet apparently, had a baby rabbit the other day I caught him eating...
seems every other day he eats a lizard alive. mind you, starts at the tail and works his way up including the legs he's not that into the guts, as he leaves it to finally die when he tastes a little of the innards.... miserable death for the poor sucker that crosses paths with my cat...
my dog was a stray dropped here nearby with her pups in tow, while I was building this house she would hang around so we brought her pups to tulsa where we lived and kept her... she's been one of the best dogs I've ever had and she was free!!! she has no boundaries as there are no fences here, though I only own 11 acres here on the hill she's surrounded by over 90acres of hills, trees and valleys.. but an animal in the country know not to travel to far from home as danger lurks...
I wonder how they are going to act when we get back to the city with a small lot..... talk about feeling trapped, looks like I'll be taking the dog for walks to give her a sense of freedom...
