Gentleman's tactical

There is a slight rattle when the blade is closed, not when open. It must be the stop pin. Is this normal and what can I do?

Try a tiny drop of oil on that rattling stop pin. ...should gunk it up a bit and stop movement.

Sometimes you can stop the rattle by tightening the pivot a tiny bit if it's the blade moving around a little.
Could it be the pocket clip? Sometimes there isn't enough tension on them and the clip isn't in contact with the scale.

I loosened the pivot, blew some air in it, dropped oil in there and tightened pivot. After some adjustment and working the blade back and forth it seems to be all right. Thanks for the tip.

Glad it worked out!! Might happen again brother......if it does just a little loctite on the pivot screw.

I would suggest taking a look at the Benchmade Subrosa. They're discontinued but you can find them (if you're patient) on the Exchange for around $125-$200 (depending on condition). They're thin, fairly light, assisted opening (very fast one handed opening), and have a 3.76" blade. They also have a nice / "gentlemen" look to them. :)

Ah...I'm too late. I just read a but further and saw that you went with the 710. It's a very good / classic knife as well. I'm sure you'll be happy with it!

Yes I am. The bugger is sharp as I noticed. Knives are unforgiving lovers, you must consentrate when you fondle them. Just a little slip in consentration when switching it from one hand to the other... ouch. :D

On page 3 there is one picture. Tomorrow I will take some with a proper camera.

In her glory.

Still she looked lonely so I gave her some company, a fine company in my humble opinion.

Just noticed that 3 or those are in D2 steel. I must like the material.

Congratulations Finn, glad you like the 710. I've been looking for a larger folder myself for sometime now and narrowed it down to the BM810 Contego, ZT0909, ZT0452 and the BM710. I chose the 710 for much the same reasons you did. Decided to order the KW exclusive and it should be in today. With Benchmades you just place your order and hope you get a good one.

You'll love it Rookie!! I have mine for a few months and it is a beauty!!
Enjoy it.......and don't forget the pics!!

When I am dressing up and want to carry a tactical folder, the 0454 is what I grab. Such a gorgeous blade.

If one is ordering from authorized (and hopefully, site-supporting) dealer, like Knifeworks is, then this should never be the case. You just need to be sure to ask for a knife that's well centered, with early lock-up, etc. (whatever your preferences are) during their checkout process. I've had great luck with the bladeforums site-supporting dealers acknowledging these requests for me.

Just got mine in, it's going back. Lots of side to side blade play and some up-and-down play. Called KW and they are taking care of me. Great guys and gals at KW. I'll post pics on a different thread, I've hijacked this one enough.:D

I wasn't aware that I could request a hand pick but that's good to know in the future. The folks at KW assured me they would hand select a good knife for me. That's good business👍

That's exactly what my boys did! They surprised me with a 710-1401 and had their initials engraved on the blade.
KW is really great about hand picking you a good one!

ZT 0452CF is the way to go.

Must be a great knife but outside my current budget where I live. Also, as I said, I prefer the axis lock, I am convinced it is both stronger and more ergonomic than frame lock. The ZT is actually not that much lighter than BM 710.
