Gerber Lst

About a month back, a collector posted a pic of Black Micarta LST. Maybe he'll see this Thread.

This has most of the variations that I have come across. The Micarts handle models are on the left side and there is a black FS1 design second up from the bottom and a black classic design forth up from the bottom. The wood sided one below the Oregon Knife Collector Knife is a one of a kind that was made for the owner of the House of Blades Knife Shop in Ft. Worth, Texas, which was the largest knife store in the country at that time in the early 1980's.

Another nice thing about the LST is that with a little practice they can be opened one handed without having to have thumb studs or big holes in the blade.

That's true! If I get an LST, I'll have STR put a little pocket clip on it.

So, how does the Fallikniven U2 compare in size?

They are very similar in size and the handles seem very similar but the U2 blade is probably a lot nicer. Also the U2 costs at least 4 times as much as a Gerber LST.

It's nice to see a thread like this. Nobody gives Gerber any love, but they're one of my favorites. Great bang for your buck (if you pick the right models...). I've carried a Applegate-Fairbairn Combat for work for years, great knife (biggun, too). I only wish I had an LST. :D

This Gerber Thread is still STRONG!!

Ok, I'll do my part!

I've been using an LST as my EDC for about six months. I've got more expensive knives, but I was looking for something slim and very light, and thought I'd give the little Gerber a try. It's done everything I've asked of it. It takes a nice edge. No, it doesn't hold it as long as 154CM or VG-10. It's 420HC, after all. But edge retention seems to be very similar to the Bucks I have in 420HC. And as already mentioned, the lockup is solid as a rock. It even has a half-stop, something not seen too often anymore.

If I'm going camping or on a weekend trail ride, I'll clip a large Griptilian in my right front. But for 99% of the daily stuff I do, the LST has given very good service.

Thanx, Mulerider. This is exactly one reason Gerber needs to reintroduce this knife. It's a winner. Bring the LST back with a new steel and---Look out!! They will sell.

Wel I found a couple that I did not have exactly so I picked up three more from Ebay over the weekend. They were the midsized Ultralight Zytel Handle models in blue and red but they were older than the ones I have and have polished blades rather than the satin finish on the ones I have. The third is the full size zytel model with black handle and cordura sheath also with a polished blade.
