Hello all.
I'm just a newbie and sorry if my post is not in the proper place.
My story is I bought a Gerber's Bear Grylls Ultimate Fixed blade as my servival knife. Then I found some videos that warn about Faked knives. Now I want to know in mine is geniue or faked.
I've already sent an email to gerber but they didn't even answer.
I've shot some pictures and hope some one can help me about it. Pictures are big in size to show the details, SO please save them fisrt.

Where did you buy it at? If it came from a well known store or online knife dealer you should be ok. If you bought it off da bay and their location was china...

I can't tell from the photos, I've never owned one.

I've bought it from a local store. I was told it is original but I'm not sure now. that's why I asked for help.

Does it really matter if it's fake, or real? The quality is probably no difference at all, either way.

Which local store? My point is if you bought it from a Walmart, Target, Dicks Sporting Goods, REI, Gander Mtn, etc you should be fine. Usually fakes don't creep into the big box stores.

Return it and get a Mora Bushcraft with firesteel and sheath, you'll be better off and probably about $10 to $15 bucks cheaper.

I think what Jill is saying is that being that the Bear Grylls knives are built in China to begin with, a fake BG wouldn't be of lower quality materials/construction than a real one, but that there is also no real reason for someone in China to make fakes of a Chinese knife. If it was a Chinese fake of a USA Gerber, that would make sense, but the BG knife is basically a Chinese "copy" of a US-made Gerber model to begin with. If you paid $60 for a knife that should cost three or four times that much, then it might be a serious concern.

Personally, I can't see any reason to think your knife is a fake.

Well there are some little differences ...
for example in the sheath should have a metal piece to protect it but here it's removed! There is no guide on back of the sheath and the place of firestarter at back of the balde is limited to half an inch. I don't know if it's a downgarde from Gerber or I'm faceing a fake knife. I'm worried about the quality of materials.
The price is almost same as the website so I paid for real one not a fake one.

What a few posters are trying to say is that even.if your knife is a genuine BG, the quality will not be much better than a counterfeit one. Yes, I've handled one too.

It's real, and the guide is still in the package.... I see it in your pic. The orange square paper on the top left of the back of the package.

Yes the guide is there but Sheath should also have an orange pocket with rescue signals on the back for it which is missed here!

To answer your question, the knife is genuine. If you like it, go enjoy it.

I meant this pocket which BG guide is in it:

Well then idk dude, it seems real to me. They recalled and re released this knife a couple of times due to materials failing. Maybe its fake but the real one is so bad that it won't make a difference. Happy trails.
