Gerber's Bear Grylls Ultimate, Fake or Real?

A mora would be perfect i think. Cheap enough and would serve him well.

Jeez, I have to catch myself when I start making decisions about other peoples stuff :o

It sounds like it is way better than whatever is available out there, wherever that is. I tend to enjoy slightly beefier fixed blades but there is no denying the usefulness of the Mora, particularly at that value.

Another thing I like is the clip-on sheath, I don't see that much and for me it is pretty handy.

Yup, theyre pretty great, albeit a bit bland for my taste. I think OP would be very happy with one..........unless........ hes secretly a blade connoisseur that wanted to try out the BG knife without his buddies making fun of him. He bought it and is now stuck with one that may be a fake, so hes asking for help under a second username that portrays someone who cant get good knives and HAD to buy the BG knife........

Best .gif ever. :D

I think my favorite fixed knife is an Ontario that I own, it's super cool. I guess if I could choose one to try no matter the price, it would be an expensive Busse or something maybe. Or a Becker which aren't that expensive but I don't actually have any.

But there are a ton of cool non-bland fixed blades for under $100. Even under $50.

I personally love the CS Master Hunter. Its my general use camp knife, and emergency survival blade. I usually take it camping and pair it with my Fasthawk for chopping and stuff.

I also have an SRK that is pretty decent as well. I may not like cold steel as a company, but these two knives are great in my experience. Maybe OP could find one since they arent too expensive or rare.

In all honesty, ive never really wanted anything in carbon steel (except maybe an ESEE 4), simply because i dont want to loose an edge to rust without ever having used it (even if it would be easier to resharpen if I did). You can be careful, but I just dont have the patience to baby my knives. But theres no reason OP cant get a Becker or something since hes most likely in a dry climate

I don't own any fixed in carbon but lots of folders in it, and although it requires a tad more care, not that much really... even if I store them for a long time, they hold up well without rust, and the ones I use regularly are fine. Part of the is mineral oil and other considerations, and if I had to do A LOT to care for them I would dislike it. But it's relatively minimal.

Edit: Except for Moras in carbon of course, a duh moment on my part.

Probably right, but since i find rust spots on even my stainless knives, Ive always been terrified of what carbon steel does.....
