Get ya thinking caps on-Competition !

Some great ones so far but I thought we might have a few more designs by now !:(

Let's say we will run this till we get 20 entries or till the end of the month, whichever comes first.

And as pointed out it's ONE entry each so if you have more than one you will have to pick ya favourite !;)

Let's spice it up a bit... how should we reward the winner?

They pay only the cost of materials to buy their winning design? I know it's bland but it's a fantastic deal. Maybe the winner gets to have a portion of the proceeds donated to a charity of their choice? Maybe they get some free thing when they buy their design? I'm not good at this part--I usually just offer to make a custom sheath for the winner, but I don't have time right now with all the wedding planning going on around here (everywhere I look our apartment is FILLED with the stuff) but maybe some other maker can offer that up?

I'm sorry guys. I don't need more motivation. Just another day! should've been done this weekend but it ws my birthday and I got behind.

Here's my entry. I couldn't get the scale color to show on the drawing.
Just imagine wavy lines of contoured black/gray canvas micatra contrasting with the satin finished steel blade.

Still only 5 entries.....C'mon guys ya must have some design in your head that you'd like to see bought to life !

Ok, here's what I got. Kind of a cross between a spear point outdoors knife and small chef knife style blade to keep your knuckles clear of the board or whatnot when you're prepping food and materials. Strong tip for drilling wood, full thickness spine for strength while batoning. Lots of sweep to the edge for slicing, dicing, skinning, etc. You could even rock the blade if you wanted too. Jimping for the thumb as well as a forefinger if you were skinning or field dressing. Make it a high convex grind or a high flat grind with a convex edge.

Sorry for the crappy picture. Kids stuck something down in my printer/scanner and it won't scan now. :grumpy:

I like that one, looks like the sorta thing I'd draw, don't know if that's a bad thing, LOL !:D

i am struggling to find pictures of what i am looking for, i will try again later, and maybe find some time to draw it up and scan it and such... but basically what i would propose is something like the brkt mountain man knife (not the double edged boot knife) and a nessmuck.
basically it's a combo of the two with some tweaks
i've always wanted on as a fixed blade, and it's a rarer pattern, the cotton samplers.
TONS of belly. ground all the way to the handle, with a straight blade before the belly, and it's fmous swedged clip.
here are a couple bad pics. i will try and find some better ones later, but i think it would do everything i could need in the bush.

I Will get a drawing going just thought I'd share where I was going to be coming from. I've always loved cotton samplers. So why not a fixed blade version.

Potbelly's on the brain...sad.:p

I love that knife that much. I sat down and sketched something up real quick and when I looked at it, I thought "Man, I know someone already makes one like that." Then I looked at my avatar and knew I was a dummy.

Pit, you and I definitely think alike on blades. I like them wide too.

You mean something like this?

I just whipped it up in MS Paint because I thought the idea was interesting. Not particularly my style, but interesting.

Some really nice ideas going on here so far!

Noah and Pitdog, great minds do think alike. I really like the look of those beasts!

Shotgun, very cool interpretation of a khuk. I like how sleek it looks, and can picture using that sucker a lot in the yard.

Plainsman, very nice design. Slim and practical with good lines. My only suggestion would be a larger thong tube. I think many people who actually use lanyards would say that 3/16" outside diameter is too small. I like to use 1/4" as a minimum and often use 5/16" or 3/8". It just makes putting them on and taking them off so much easier.

Very cool of you guys to come up with a design contest:thumbup: Good luck everybody.
