getting caught with a bm 960 at disneyland

Try as I might, I cannot seem to find alcohol nor pornography mentioned in the Constitution.

For all your talk about "rights" and your blatant libertarian undertones, you seem to be missing the most important part of this whole discussion.

Disney has a RIGHT to tell you to GTFO their private property for pretty much any reason they like as long as they are treating you the same as anyone else doing the same thing.

PS that list bit is really ridiculous.

Just recently this "plague" of security fascism has spread to Sweden as well. They opened a new big hall for conventions and bandy in a town nearby and the first day they patted down exactly everyone. Someone had a bag of candy liberated from him and some other minor things caused an earthquake in the press. The local city people bent over backwards to try to blame it on someone else.

I do not understand why there is such a fuss about everything. Yes, I can not see that you might need a 6" murder-death-ninja knive on a hockey game, but "normal" people never bring them anyway. Here we dont have "private" venues having stronger rules than "public" ones. There are actually court ruling stating that a SAK is considered "justifiable" even in bars and such. However, if you behave badly you will get caught anyway.

I strolled right into a strip joint with my spyderco native in my pocket.Through the metal detector too. When the dude swept me he asked if I had change in my pocket.I did have a pile of change and shook my pocket.he let me in without checking me.I wasn't up to no good I was just hammered. It was my best friends bachelor party.

lol just wanted to say how funny it was to walk through the bag check at disneyland and I guess it was kinda my fault for having it clipped in my pants the lady comes up to me amd tells me I have to go back to my car to put it away lol I say ok I walk towards my gf and another guy comes up to me asking me if I have a knife I say yes he asks me to leave the park and take it to my car but the funny thing is my gf had a benchmade benchmite on her keyring in her purse but they don't even bother to tell her she can't bring it in ahhh the bag checkers make me laugh just thought I'd share my 1 hour experience with you all

Almost the same story at Eurodisney: The guy comes up to me amd tells me I have to go back to my car to put it away... but in the same time he called the police and they stoped me at the parking.. 4 HOURS WITH THE F*****G COPS TO CONVINCE THEM THAT I'M NOT A TERRORIST !!!!

We are becoming a neutered society in the name of "safety".

Yeah. Turns all the good honest folks into helpless goldfish in a 6" pond surrounded by sharp-clawed cats.

Not so much about Disneyland, but in general... bad folks will always be armed and care nothing for your well being or your life.

Good folks need to be armed as well. Equals the playing field a bit and puts a little more respect in the behavior of the bad guys.

I never again want to be a helpless victim of a dirtbag who cares less for my life than a couple of dollars. "No Weapons" zones do not protect honest citizens against "bad guys." Authorities simply cannot protect citizens. The most they can typically do is show up after the mayhem to put up yellow tape and take reports. They try their best, but when it comes down to it... individuals are responsible for their own defense and if they don't tend to that responsibility, it is they who will suffer. Not the bad guys. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away!

And this... local mall has a sign saying that firearms are not permitted in the mall. So guess what, all the good guys (well, some of them anyway) who are law abiding, CCW permit holding citizens leave their guns in their cars. Do they think that sign is going to keep some scumbag who wants to come into the mall and create a little mayhem from bringing in his firearm? Heck no. Therefore, all the good people in the mall become defenseless sitting ducks in a shooting gallery.

This land of ours is rapidly morphing into another "European nation". THAT is scary! I'm a firm believer in being a law abiding, trained, concealed carry citizen. That includes knives and guns. The last thing I would EVER want to have to do is produce a knife or a gun in defense, but if there's anything I can do to protect my own well being, that of my family and friends, even that of a fellow citizen, against an evil-doer, I will do it.

If you look at the number of weapons per person in a country, surprisingly Sweden and Finland comes out on top. However there are totally different kind of weapons compared to the US. Almost all (legal) firearms in Sweden are long barrels. Hunting rifles and 12 gauge are as common as Mora knives in the countryside. However there are very few handguns out there, mostly for competition and for shooting badgers.

Unfortunately there has been an increase in gang violence, mostly foreigners, that has caused an increase in handguns being used.

The concept of "I have to be armed because they bad guys are" has not come here yet. People still believe that the Police is doing their job. Unfortunately political decisions are working in the wrong way. There are ways to stop gang violence, but "unfortunately" the Swedish penal code does not have "deportation to prison island", "labour camp" or "beheading" in the arsenal. However lots of people would like to see child molesters and gang rapists being publically punished on the town square.

If by "European" you mean Britain, I fear that too.

and nodh: You have excellent point but in here, Finland, our biggest problem is that governemnt is going very fast towards Englands over patrionasing nanny state. Current red-green-infested government we have, treats the symptom's of banning hand guns... Later it probably try to ban guns all together. Problem is they treat symptom by making laws since its cheaper than treat the actual causes: social problem underlying in society.

But Disney is private corporation and Disney land is private property and they can make rules that must be obeyed. Your house, your rule. Guests honor the house rule or leave. Old folk wisdom says so in here.

Recently they've started wanding everyone who goes up the arch. You aren't supposed to go in there with anything sharp. It feels like an airport!

We had to go through metal detectors (remove all metal and take your belt off completely)+ lift up our pant legs.

mdauben -That may be true, however, they still only check your bags and purses. I have been through the Disneyland checkpoint many times and they only search people with bags/ purses and all they search is the bag or purse.
Same here, I've been into Disneyworld several times with an unclipped knife in my pocket. I've never been patted down, or subject to a metal detector (I'm sure they don't want to create the kind of atmosphere such precaution would cause)

I agree though, it would be nice if they posted an official policy.
Yes, that's what bugs me. I could live with it if they offically banned knives in the park (I would either leave my knife in the car or not go to the park anymore). Its walking up to the gate, after paying big $$$ for your tickets and possibly being miles from your car, and then being told "no knife or no entry" by some teenager that I get steamed.

We had to go through metal detectors (remove all metal and take your belt off completely)+ lift up our pant legs.
For the St. Louis Arch!? That's the point at which I tell them to "F" their arch, turn around and leave. A five minute ride in an uncomfortable elevator to look out a window with the same sort of view I can get out of my office every day of the week isn't worth it.. :thumbdn:

I went to see the locks at Sault Saint Marie with a folder clipped to my pocket. The guard told me to bring it back to my car. I don't know if he thought I was going to hijack an ore boat or do irreparable damage to the locks.

i went to l.a. for a few days in october... i started drinking knob creek about when we landed at LAX...

we had a 3-day pass to universal studios, for the halloween horror nights thing. during the day my knife wasn't an issue, but after dark, when halloween horror nights started, they were herding people through gates making us empty our pockets. on the last night, after a few burboun & cokes, i forgot that i had my little 2 blade old timer in pocket... i had to run about a mile through a sea of people to stash it in the car. i missed the rocky horror picture show tribute(which was just fine with me). it sucks having to run that far when you're half-drunk and its hot outside.

Good choice of bourbon... why cut it with Coke?

just a splash, really, to darken it a bit. i don't see how any sober person could survive a week in los angelas.

me neither... I lived there with my uncle for 4 months while trying to quit harder things

First I have to say Redisburning is absolutely right.

Obviously to all of us here, I personal rights are extremely important and thats something I respect and agree with. But what a lot of people are failing to recognize is that Disney's personal rights. Disney land/world is not our property, and is not public domain you pay to get in and are given permission to come onto their property and have to follow by their rules.

I live in Michigan, and under the law here it is legal to open carry a pistol. However if I had children I would not allow you to walk into my house with that pistol. Yes you are allowed to have that but it's also my property and I can tell you to get the hell off it if you are doing something I don't like. Same with Disney land, as long as they are not being discriminatory they can make you abide by whatever rules they choose. If they feel knives are threatening and not conducive to the environment there then by all means they can tell you not to have a knife with you.

You want your rights to be respected, you best respect the rights and freedoms of others as well.

Something funny happened to me at Hot Import Nights. My friend had a collapsible baton of around 25 inches and always carries it around with him. He went up to the checkers to get in and they said thats illegal and you cant bring it in. I had talked to police officers around my town and they concluded that it was 100% legal to carry. So he already knew he could have it, when the checkers told him they needed to hold onto it he agreed. Now that sad thing is when he went back to pick it up one of the checkers said "Oh we disposed of that in a dumpster" my friend flipped out and was like "Can you take me to the dumpster so i can get it back!?" And of course they said no we cant do that. Now I myself had my Tenacious on me and was not about to let that same thing happen to me so what i did was when they had people empty their pockets i took my tenacious and held it under my wallet and walked through... Hows that for secure!?

funny. i was actually patted down at an aerosmith concert. the guy doing the patting completely missed the knife i had unclipped and dropped into the bottom of my pocket with my keys AND the flashlight in my carpenter jeans pocket.
