Getting into the boot knife game.

Unions are communist. Everything about them is socialism.

I'm native Floridian and never worked with a good union worker.

In fact they would make jokes while they would drink and drug and want their 15 min union breaks in FL.

Unions are good for going over budget and past deadlines. Free market is actual competitive free markets.

Picture it, NYC, 42nd street subway station steps, PM rush hour, a young chucklehead running down the steps wearing western boots.
An AG Russell Sting tucked in one boot top, wranglers over both.
The knife and sheath were very similar to those pictured.
The sheath was tight enough to hold the knife when inverted.

In the course of that dash down the flight of stairs, the knife came out of the sheath and clattered down the steps. I scooped it up and realized how fortunate I was that it fell clear and not down into the boot!

I’m not criticizing, but thought I’d share why boot carry didn’t work for me.
:)
However I do have a wallet with a boot clip that works a treat and was really handy at times lol

I had something Similar once

The AG Russell Sting that I referenced earlier.

This boot knife is what I refer to as a "hybrid". I assembled it using parts from two different knives. The blade is from a United Cutlery UC26, the handle is from a SOG Desert Dagger. The SOG handle provided a better grip.

The original sheath that came with the United was a chintzy shoulder sheath, so I made this sheath.

People often look down on United Cutlery knives, but after I bought this knife I heavily abused it to see what it could take and it came through without a bit of damage. As for the SOG handle, a friend of mine broke his Desert Dagger, so I bought the handle from him.

It's neigh on impossible to find find one of those knives anymore.

I don't know if you're referring to the Desert Dagger or the United Cutlery boot knife.

The United was discontinued quite awhile ago. When I found out about that I bought a few extra on closeout sale for $13 each. The identical knife was sold under the Rigid brand (model RG26). Both are still available on the secondary market. I see several of each brand currently for sale.

One of the things I like about the United UC26 is the blade is 3/16ths of an inch thick (pic below). Unusually thick for an inexpensive, mass-production boot knife. Later United Cutlery boot knives had thinner blades. I bought one of those as well (pic below).

Here's a stock pic of a UC26 showing the original handle. It's shorter and thinner than the Desert Dagger handle.

This is not the same knife I previously posted. It's a different hybrid. The blade is from one of the more recent United boot knives (thinner blade, originally came with a cast-on plastic handle). I replaced the handle with a rubber handle from a VTech Recon Bowie (now there's a knife that's hard to find, not that you'd want to). I would have put the VTech handle on another UC26, but it wasn't a good fit due to the difference in the thickness and widths of the tangs.

A VTech Recon Bowie. Looks nice, but when I took the handle off I found a very narrow stick tang, and there was a hole through the tang near the guard.

I don't call this knife a "boot knife". Instead, it's carried in a sheath attached to each of my bikes. So I guess it's a "bike knife" 😁.

Since I travel to and from the Philippines and live in the south pacific islands during rainy season.. I figured these boots would be sufficient enough to carry the edged tool that is needed to take care of the snakes, lizards and other things that go bump in the night would work for me
