Getting into the boot knife game.

Update!!
Just got home knife finally came. I'm wearing my insulated or lined boots today but same difference as my Whites and first impressions are GREAT!!!
I honestly can't even tell it's there. It's not loose and isn't going anywhere wearing outside my boot.
I think this is a fantastic way to carry a knife..
Time will tell but so far like I said I can't even feel it at all.

And totally concealed not that it mattered really to me but.

This knife reminds me of the Tekna from the 1980s. Always wanted one back then.

Wanted to say to everyone that I appreciate all the ideas and the warm welcome to this forum. I've been a member a long time but wasn't active. I joined another forum at the same time and was there until recently when the lack of moderation and enforcement of the rules turned me sour on the place. I honestly wish I had just become active here first.
So THANK YOU!!!
Glad to have you around!

For all you inside boot carry fans I had another knife I planned to try so today it's on the menu.

Seems comfortable and I dig that is a Gerber kinda matches my Gerber 06 that I carry daily. We'll see how it does today... Always loved this knife maybe this will be it's time to shine.

I did a thing🤣🤣. So the Gerber blackie Collins is just making me feel good but I'm not in love with the sheath. It works just fine just not my thing. I was gonna order the materials and make a new kydex sheath for it but that's expensive as I'd need not only the kydex sheets but eyelets foam forms and eyelet setter. SO!!!.
I modified the sheath I purchased with the first knife that started this journey to fit the Gerber complete with a cutout so the clip lock works. And it works very very well you can't get the knife out no matter how hard I try without depressing the clip lock.
I had to take some off the top/opening of the sheath then notch it for the lock and I stained it and for now it'll do and makes me happy.

Also added some double sided sticky tape kinda rubbery feeling which is now only single sided didn't take much to get it non sticky on the outside which I plan to cover with heat shrink tubing I'll pick up at Lowe's tomorrow probably. That adds just a little girth and grip to the tang of the knife.

When I was super into canoeing I wanted this knife, too! 😄

The black version was only offered in 1992 for a short time. At the end of 1991, Gerber changed using a ceramic black coating to an anodized black. I have seen only one other factory made black version. I have seen a few that were painted black after initial purchase, but you can tell by rotating the retaining clip and the steel under it will not be black.

Update. Had a long day yesterday lots of up and down ladders bending kneeling on and on and zero issues with the new sheath setup or any movement or discomfort.
This setup really works well for me. Off for another day of work and I just wish I had started carrying a knife in my boot sooner. It really works well it's out of the way unless needed.

Picture it, NYC, 42nd street subway station steps, PM rush hour, a young chucklehead running down the steps wearing western boots.
An AG Russell Sting tucked in one boot top, wranglers over both.
The knife and sheath were very similar to those pictured.
The sheath was tight enough to hold the knife when inverted.

In the course of that dash down the flight of stairs, the knife came out of the sheath and clattered down the steps. I scooped it up and realized how fortunate I was that it fell clear and not down into the boot!

I’m not criticizing, but thought I’d share why boot carry didn’t work for me.
:)
However I do have a wallet with a boot clip that works a treat and was really handy at times lol

And that's where the clip knife saves the day. Clipped into the sheath it simply can't come out thank God for modern I/E 1985 design🤣 awesome story I'm sure no matter what happened it is a great memory.
