Getting into the boot knife game.

Thank you all for those explanations of knife laws in WV.

I guess the main thought in that post was observing (or asking) that the knife type being talked about is for defense rather than as a utility tool.
And I wasn't trying to be overly explanatory sorry if it came off that way but I'm originally from Texas and always assumed that Texas of all places would have the least restrictive gun and knife laws.
I've learned that they actually don't at all which really surprised me. I do believe West Virginia to be one of the best states for carry if firearms as well as knives.

So are your pants tucked in the boots....🤔?????.......Otherwise could prove not so advantageous.....🤔
Nah it's hidden under them. I carry a folder and sak the boot knife is just there in case I need or want it. I head into the woods after work allot and wanted to have a fixed blade with me for split wood fires etc. crafting I suppose would be on that list to and sometimes a folder isn't the right tool for the job.

Can the holes in the Kydex be used in conjunction with the boot's laces for a more secure or stable set up?

A more dostant thought: Year5s ago (25+) I saw an ankle holster that not only wrapped, but was actually laced on with the boot's laces. It would stay on the boot when removed from the foot.

A sheath for a boot worn knife could be done up this way, I think.

Just asking....but why outside leg?

In my head if you are right handed, attach inside boot/left leg.

More natural squat and grab, like you are tieing a shoe.

I started with where it's at and honestly it's comfortable for access as well as wear. I really don't even know it's there the clip is beyond solid and I'm not carrying it for access so much as having it there when I want not need it. It has ridden there for two days now and I don't need it ever. I carry a Gerber 06 as well as an alox farmer in my pocket.
I've always carried a fixed blade and my farmer. With the work change I feel naked without a fixed blade I have my Gerber for pretty much everything but I still just wanted a fixed blade on my person.
So access and such isn't really an issue.
Should I want it for actual use for any extended period of time I/E if I hit the woods after work it's very simple to pull it sheath and all outta my boot and clip it to my belt and poof... Fixed blade. I do have to unlace my boot as it's simple not coming off without pulling back on the clip to remove it.
Basically it's redundant I don't need to carry it I simply wanted to have it with me ..

EDC setup now. Hell the Gerber is even bigger and certainly more comfortable to use but I wouldn't wanna batton it to make a split wood fire which I'm known to go do when I play in the woods.

It's so solid man. I mean you aren't getting it off my boot. I tried when I got home without taking my boot off and I simply couldn't. I mentioned above my plan to add a safety Paracord loop from the sheath to a boot lace but after two solid days of work I don't think I even need that. I'm climbing ladders all kinds of things I'm a carpenter and I've had zero issues with it even moving on my boot carried outside it. I'm a worry wart so trust me if it was a problem I'd change things so it wasn't.

It is ROCK SOLID for those worried about it coming off or other things. So much so the sheath has almost to much retention I'm thinking about using some heat to loosen it some and I can still pull the knife one handed and it doesn't even slip up it just pulls out of the sheath.

I was thinking it would also be more concealed inside, less printing
Here in good ole West Virginia there are no knife laws. If your 21 you can concealed carry not only a firearm but any and I do mean any type of knife without a permit of any kind. I regularly carry a fixed blade to Walmart without so much as a second glance from anyone. Pink Glocks on women are the norm so it showing wasn't really an issue either. And honestly you can not see it I'll take another pic tomorrow with it on and I challenge ya to find the imprint.
I'm carrying it for want more than any need as my pocket carry does pretty much everything I need but again I feel fairly naked without a fixed blade so I solved the issue. So far though I'm breaking the boot knife rules outside the boot carry just works. It's comfortable to the point I really don't even know it's there so much that I feel for it a couple times a day to make sure lol. I'm planning to rig my safety lanyard soon which won't allow it to move up enough to come off but that'll just be to appease my inner worry wart because it doesn't budge after working all day climbing ladders bending kneeling walking over ten thousand steps per my Garmin.

Wayne: If it works for you I am happy for you.

I was just thinking out loud with the keyboard. No one makes sheaths that lace onto the boot just now nd I was planting a seed of thought.

Best wishes to you in West (by God) Virginia!

Thank you sir so far it's working out very very well.

I run one! It's a stabby auto though 😁. I would run one of my Microtechs, but the ots gathers so much lint already, I don't want to chance a misfire if I'm needing it for reals.

Yeah I've had problems with my microtech I mean it did very well at work dust and debris didn't seem to affect it I used it for kitchen prep etc as well again zero issues. It lost my interest when packing tape a tiny tiny amount balled itself up inside it and rendered it pretty much useless had to take out apart and clean it.. I miss carrying it it's light and overall fantastic but I do open things at work and home that include packing tape often and it was kinda a deal killer.

Wanted to say to everyone that I appreciate all the ideas and the warm welcome to this forum. I've been a member a long time but wasn't active. I joined another forum at the same time and was there until recently when the lack of moderation and enforcement of the rules turned me sour on the place. I honestly wish I had just become active here first.
So THANK YOU!!!
