Your work is amazing! Such excellent looking blades. In your videos i keep hoping you chop something with one LOL, any videos of any of your blades in use?

And do you mind if i ask how they are heat-treated? I never heard of this steel so im curious to some info on it. Thanks man.

Check these two videos. Sorry for my English though.
I HT NZ3 carbon tool steel in my electric furnace with automatic temp. control, quench from 900C (usually edge quench) in hot 70C oil. Temper between 180C to 250C, depends.
This is high impact resistance steel similar to S1 but with more carbon. with hardness between 55-60 for my Ht. Usually i try to obtain about 60 for smaller blades and 57-60 for bigger ones.
This is very tough steel, high alloy, ultra fine grain size, though it rusts quite easily. Something like L6 i presume. Definitely tougher than simple spring steel and keeps the edge quite well. For big blades i wouldn't recommend other steel. Though it is also good for smaller blades for heavy use.
:)

Thank you very much for explaining the heat treat for me. And also thank you for the videos!! They look like some great hard use blades :)

The first video, with the short sword, i think you call it the Belit on your site. That thing is super sweet. I love that design. I have been admiring it on your website so im glad to see a video of it.

The Belit and the Deimos war chopper are my favorites on the site. Very nice site as well, with lots of great looking blades. Thanks again.

No problem :). I find this blade profile very practical for chopping and i will definitely make more knives this type.
Belit has more than two years and it is my personal knife. I use it hard and must say it is one of my favorite knives, you can use it as a machete as it is only 0.20" thick, as a chopper and as a short sword. Simple stacked leather handle and big guard makes the grip really comfortable and secure. Soon i will finish another stacked leather huge bowie for myself (late Christmas present) and cannot wait to use it.
This type of handle construction is fantastic and i plan to make at least 10 blades with similar handle in 2014. Mostly big choppers/bowies but who knows ... maybe something else as well.
Kind regards

Excellent, i look forward to seeing some more of the Belit :D Id love to get my hands on one of them!!
