I have electronic money to spend, knives I would buy right now......but I refuse to go the "gift" or add a % to the asking price, net to me crap. Everyone knows the gift option is hazardous for the buyer, cheats a handy service out of their fee's and who wants try and figure out adding 3-4 % on top of the asking price? Is it too hard to factor everything in and lay it out there? it's all the same in the end, and more than likely everyone wins.

I agree. I had never heard of doing that until I started buying knives. I've won't buy from sellers that do that.

If it's something I want- I'll tell them I'll buy it at the asking price paid via PayPal Goods. If they really want the 3.9% they'll say No.

I always list at the top of my sales thread "Price includes PP fees and shipping"

If you want to make a certain amount of money ie;net to me, then add the fees yourself and list that price before submitting the thread.

I always backspace first thing when I click on a thread thats says gift or net to me.

I hate the "net to me" BS as well. I always include PP fees and shipping in my prices. I do try to avoid the "gift" option although I admit to paying that way a few times. tsssk, tsssk... I know. :o

I won't buy from sellers who do that. The other thing that irks me is no pictures. I won't buy something that I can't at least see first.

No gift option for me. But "net to me" doesn't bother me. As long as PayPal gets their fee if their service is used to pay for an item, who pays the fee ought to be negotiable as far as I'm concerned. But if PayPal's service isn't used to pay for the item, no one should have to pay the fee . . . PayPal's TOS notwithstanding.

YMMV.

On another site, for a totally different hobby, if you want to sell you must:
Have a paid subscription
List a price (does not have to include shipping)
avoid asking for PP gift
post Pictures
leave pix and price up for 30 days after the sale

I am unsure of the price reason, but the pix must remain just in case there is an issue and the buyer can compare what was received with what was listed.

I will not use PayPal gift. If someone says net to me, I'm quite capable of doing the math if I want the item bad enough. Of course when I sell I always include fees and shipping but I'm not trying to make a profit by selling knives either. Also, I always take a screen shot of the ad when I purchase just in case the seller deletes everything so that I have a record of it.

You can also quote the ad back to him in the original thread so the terms remain there for everyone to see.
