"Gift" option, etc. etc. sucks Vol. VII

I think just about every knife I've sold has been done at a loss. I figure it's the price I pay to coon finger a knife for a while. I always include the PayPal fees and shipping in my listed price because that's how I like to buy as well. There have been a few instances where I've sold knives at a really steep discount and the buyer has used gift without me asking. Have to say that I appreciated it in those instances. I also recently used the gift option to purchase from another member because he was selling the knife at a really low price and he had a fair amount of positive feedback. I would say just use your judgement.... if you're that worried about getting ripped off, you can always cancel the deal before the money exchange.

I heard Walmart was going to start using Net to Me on all of their products. So when you get in line to check out they're going to charge $1.49 for the bottle of coke plus tax plus credit cards transaction fees or a share of the cost of gas to go deposit the cash in the bank.

I agree with everyone, because that is how you see it and after that who cares, it's just knives. I have purchased many many, here and never had an issue. Therefore saying sellers here are bad is totally incorrect. Saying sellers here are different is totally correct as they can within the forum rules sell as they will. I never understand these threads, as first if a problem exist that breaks a rule the Mods will address that, second if that is not the case then everyone is free to sell/buy as they wish. I have seen several recent threads try to establish controls within the exchange, sorry but these threads have been covered many times. Paypal has been discussed in all possible ways. Reading old threads by seeking key words in the search engine will avoid further confusion. It is very clear from the success of the exchange that those involved do not feel the need for hand holding. Too many rules and the system gets bogged down. Before anyone jumps, I collect, I buy and I have purchased under every circumstance a seller could think of. Some are just set in their ways, some feel that their way is correct, others feel they lose otherwise, some just always did it that way. Regardless they own the knives and Demand runs this market. Thank goodness. Having traded, purchased and seldom sold here, be careful what you say you do, the archives may show otherwise. As for those who say they would not buy knives here, and crooks are everywhere in the exchange, it's simply not true and the system is not broken. The most highly affective part of the entire forum. Don't think so, spend time reading the success self policing has had here. Thanks to the Mods and members who don't have time to complain, they are too busy enjoying knives offered here, you would NEVER see elsewhere.

^^^ Yeah. I tried to understand that ramble up there, you are entitled to your opinions....but, whatever dude.

Sorry if I rambled. I thought this area of forum was about discussion. You Sir are a SELLER, sometimes a trader, But I have never seen you buy on this site ?? Could be wrong And to all Mods and you, I NEVER once criticized your post. Hard to follow a post about buyer fees when you are not involved in that area or function on this site. Is it that the fees affect your sales and trades. You also recently posted about NIB, LNIB. and BNIB. NIB is the only thing that says New In Box.. LNIB = used. BNIB how is that better than NIB ? The act of smoke and mirrors should never enter the exchange. Seems my post was very clear,

This is an excellent site, it certainly allows many members to sell many knives, and a lot while not considering themselves dealers. And as I said, this site offers the best buyer protection of ANY site, ANY. I tried to make my point without judging or poking anyone. If this is a carry over from the PM's I received regarding other post and what the archives PROVED then I am sorry. And I do not know any Dudes, just members, many, many good ones. As stated I agree with everyone for their opinion. This means everyone. SIR.

+1

T- Don't even dignify a response to people, who obviously missed out on childhood lessons, regarding manners, & respecting ones elders...it's a waste of time.

Personally, I prefer: "Sir" over "Dude"... but that's just the generation I grew up in, & I'm a surfer! ;)

Back on topic : Paypal Goods, always! Was this the topic- I forgot!?!

and that is why you are blessed SIR, you get it and thank you very much. And yes Paypal goods and services, BUT , I have done otherwise when I knew a member needed the funds when I first started. NOW I would just add extra money which I have done MANY times. Big difference, at least to me when I know people are suffering or having to sell items. Knives are metal, nothing more. People actually matter. I know members, you , who would pay above asking price, rather than take advantage of someone who is clueless to knives or is hurting. Then I see you score a grail and I smile. Find it hard to believe anyone selling volumes of knives to lose money on all them. very hard..

You guy's are over the top on this one, way to much drama. Smoke and mirrors? how often I buy on the exchange? respecting elders?....you got me I guess.

No worries. Even if this thread goes dark, another one will rise up to replace it.

As you may have noticed, some topics never die . . . hence the need to assign volume numbers to them.

I got so excited I double tapped it.

Seriously, this thread had a nice run and I want to thank everyone for their replies but I'm detecting a "trend" here that it has run it's course ( kind of like near closing time after a evening at the bar drinking with your buddies and the "fun" has reached it's point of diminishing returns) maybe a few more thoughtful or coherent contributions and I'm going to lock it up....last word.

Sorry, it looks like we will have to adhere to topic matters that don't hurt your feelings and fall in line with what can be brought up that you deem deserving of conversation....again, my apologies sir.

See KELAMA! I called him sir.

Wow, I didn't realize there was so many problems with how the exchange is run.... I'd say I've had at least 100 deals over the years, trading, buying and selling. Never once have I had a problem, other than people trying to low ball and then I just ignore it. I'd have to say to everyone, if you don't like the sellers parameters of the sale, then don't buy from them. Personally, I LOVE the exchange and I've had much better luck with folks being honest here than on the auction site.

FWIW I don't consider LNIB to 'used'.... more like it's been handled a bit, opened, closed, chicken eyed and coon fingered but still mint.

Personally, I wasn't trying to give the impression that their were "problems" with the exchange, it runs pretty darn well all things considered. Sometimes I'm going post what I think is interesting that in the end does not really matter in the grand scheme of things...and I agree with you.

I guess 'problems' wasn't quite the word I was looking for..... posting about what you find interesting is what the forum is all about! In regards to the op, I must agree, that the 'net to me' and gift or add a % is a bit annoying. It would be better salesmanship to just put a total price and then say 'take off such and such $ if using the gift option' and 'add $ if shipping international'. Personally, I stick with the goods and services option unless the other person has a fair amount of + feedback. It's just safer for everyone and honestly, paypal should receive their due for providing the convenience.

No worries, akula. Just because a topic never dies doesn't mean it's not deserving of conversation. Some topics are far more deserving of using the SEARCH function, however. And in case you haven't noticed it, there actually is a bottom line in all of these discussions. BF has decided not to enforce the PayPal TOS, a decision I for one wholeheartedly support. So nothing ever changes from one discussion to the next except the cast of characters who chime in.

Onward and upward to Vol. VIII. :D
