Give-away competition...photo time. WINNERS ANNOUNCED

I wish I could take pictures. Great giveaway, a very nice way for everyone to enjoy some terrific pics and knives.

There's some beautiful knives here! Mine pale in comparison. In fact, my slip joint collection is relatively small. I have a couple of Case EDC's and one Canal Street, but my favorite slipjoint is this Barlow that belonged to my great grandfather. Rusted, broken... isn't much use anymore, but I treasure it nonetheless.

Slight correction.... I'm not 100% sure if this was my Great Grandfather's or Grandfathers..... My dad passed away last year and he bequeathed me his gun and knife collection, which this was a part of. I'm positive it wasn't his originally and I'm inclined to believe it was my Great Grandfather's (he lived to be 96), but it could have been my Grandfathers. All I know is that it's passed through at least 3 generations of my family, and that's enough to know!

My favorite knife.
Fresh from the tube and a rookie to the pocket.

First of all, thank you for coming up with such a cool idea for a contest, I'm happy to participate in such a great thread. Here are a few photos:

Some of you should be doing this for a living.

Regards.
Shhhhh! You're right. But PLEASE keep it quiet. ;) Especially Johnny Twoshoes. He could make my life much harder....

Ya know, what GOT me into knife photography ten years ago was the weekly 'photo contests' over on Knife Network. I got my clock cleaned regularly, and studied--really studied--who was winning, and worked at the process. I finally got the sympathy vote on a shot against none other than the talented Dr. Fred Carter. Once you get a taste of victory it obsesses you.... :D

I actually work in a boatyard as my 2nd full-time job. I always carry at least one knife, and so today I packed one that would serve me twice: as a tool, and as my model.

I spent ten mins on this shot. I had good fun in doing so. Canon S90 point & shoot, direct sunlight. This was my fave of about five captures.

I wanted to use it in context, but not too busy. Dock, line, knife, shadows, sunlight. Keep the tips clear of distractions. Lots of texture.

I am NOT entering in the 'contest'. I just wanted to play. That said, there are much better shots in here already.

Keep up the great work. Thanks for the nod. Of course I like this thread, and I so rarely post in this forum.

Thanks Jim, thats a huge compliment for me.
I really enjoyed taking these pictures, in a weird way, it's kind of connecting with the knives. Once I have a photo that I know at least I'll enjoy, I know that knife will stay a while.
I have a lot more knives to share, I just need to find time and takes some pics.

This has been great, I really love the idea of a knife picture thread and these knives are great.

Great idea for a contest.
Thanx for doing this!
I'll put up some pix, but don't count me in the judging :)
