Giveaway #77 Barlow! Nominate your fellow BF Members!

A very thoughtful GAW right here, and a useful pattern in that folder too, it would easily grace anyone’s edc rotation as a proud addition!

And as for nominating someone, there is always the risk of not making mention of some folks that have contributed a great deal and should be recognized.

I really appreciate those that have mentioned me and feel honored, thank you guys!

The Porch, it’s an interesting place, a world apart that brings us closer to vintage knives of days long past as well as introducing some future classics along the way, what’s not to like!

You’ll find some that rest back and read threads, some may have been here from the early start of BladeForums but have post only a few times, while others are flat out prolific in their postings ;) we enjoy them all.

The person I would nominate is a moderator of the Porch, Peregrin aka Gary

It takes a lot to be a moderator, they have a tough job as the Porch not only has interesting people but also people that make things interesting ;) and to the moderator I tip my hat.

Plus with a name like Gary, what’s not to like :)

What a great idea for a GAW! It's heartwarming to read these posts expressing thanks and admiration for fine folks who frequent the porch. Its wonderful to see a wide range of people being nominated and I feel truly honored to have been mentioned among them.

I'd like to expand the list of nominees to include Wurrwulf (Shawn). His enthusiastic, ever-positive posts—often accompanied by beautiful photographs—are a delight to read and brighten my day.

I would like to nominate Half/Stop. Ron is a man who puts his friends before himself and that is the trait that makes our friends our brothers and sisters. Thank you very much for the nomination Bob. It means a great deal to me that I would be considered. Thank you JITDC for your generosity and contributions here on the porch.

And one more nomination... hickory n steel, who has bestowed upon me my one and only Rough Rider, a hawkbill, in yet another GAW.

I believe You're mistaken , I have not yet done a giveaway here on the porch 😳
I have started a few worthwhile threads in my short time here, but I certainly don't think I have yet earned a nomination for this generous giveaway.
I may at some point in the future, but I just have no clue when or what it would be.This subforum has such a wealth of knowledge, and countless great members , so I just wanna say thank you to everyone here 👍

The Fort - Lance and I have exchanged gifted knives in the recent past and have talked privately about various knife related subjects on several occasions. He's a real stand up guy and absolutely worthy of winning this unique giveaway.

Gunstockjack - He has given his time, knowledge, energy and if you peruse other threads outside of the porch, you'll find that he gives to the whole forum, not just here. The porch wouldn't be the same imo without him.

I WAS mistaken. You and I were the winners in a RR giveaway. You got a trapper and I got a "mystery knife," which turned out to be a half hawk. It took a little digging to find the thread and I'm a little embarrassed about the error.

Yet, I would like your nomination to stand because you are a valuable contributor to the porch IMHO.

In addition, I nominate the member who actually DID bestow upon me that RR yellow half hawk... Neko2.

YES!
Please count this post as another vote for Barry!

Sitflyer - Duane still pops in from time to time and it's always good to see him posting. There was a time not long ago when Duane inspired awe in many of us with his amazing generosity, myself included. Many members here are recipients of his kindness. Definitely one of the good guys.

Knarfeng- Frank deserves mention here, as the forum would not be the same without him ! Thanks for having the patience of Job ! I think its safe to say we all appreciate what you do.

I'd like to throw another name in the hat, if I may. Stumps is a great member who has been more than fair with me on every occasion. Another, who is definitely deserving of a chance.

I would like to nominate GuestWho101 (Dee) who has put up with me when I was getting into the traditional arena, and asking him a million questions :)

I will also nominate Wilted Kilt (Colin) for doing a trade which gave me a Grinling Whittler. That certainly deserves it.

Absolutely:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

A vote for Jackknife, aka Carl, a wonderful forum member with always a positive take on things. A fantastic storyteller that takes us back to simpler times:thumbup:

Make that two for Jackknife! His stories and outlook on knives and life are inspiring.

JITDC, congrats on the two knives you recently received, including your grailish IRJ!!
And thanks for starting this cool thread in response; very generous of you, and the "nominate a winner" idea is truly inspired!
I haven't been around The Porch very much this week, and was amazed at the exponential growth of this thread. In between brief trips to BF, I'd sometimes think about the many members I'd like to nominate. But every time I checked back, more and more of "my candidates" had already appeared, as well as many others who I hadn't thought of myself, but when I'd see the nomination, I'd think, "Of course! He/she is a great nominee!" (It's surprising to me that of the 57 nominees I'd counted just before starting this post, I can personally attest to the generosity of goods, services, time, knowledge, and/or friendship/inspiration/influence of 2/3 of them!:D)

So I'm planning to make a series of posts nominating folks who I think are certainly deserving, based on my interactions with, or observations of, them. Then I hope to post a whole boatload of "I'll second that in a heartbeat" type of posts.

My first nominee is someone who I haven't seen on The Porch for a while, but I'm pretty sure he's still lurking around on occasion. Cory Hess has been someone I've admired from my early days at BF, both for his generosity in many ways and for his insightful (and sometimes contrarian ;)) perspectives on numerous knife-related issues!:thumbup:

I'm definitely going to jump on the jackknife bandwagon while it's rolling by!
He was number one on my "hasn't been nominated yet???" list this morning, but Paul beat me to it. Carl's contributions to the entire community are all over The Porch: the Lounge, the Cult of the Peanut, the "Totin' Today" thread, his sharpening videos, his stories, etc. And I've personally had several interactions with Carl that have enriched my knife life!
