GIVEAWAY - Penny (or knife) for your thoughts -- Finale

... a #15 frame with a wharnie/clip or wharnie/spear pair.

Let's say you were in the market for something like that (if it disgust you, just play along).

Biting my tongue. :D

Bone, I really like the antique yellow that they've been using recently. Sawcut brown or jigged red would be good second choices.

Wood. Special knife deserves something special, koa.

Wood, desert ironwood would be sweet.
Antique smooth bone or black cherry jigged bone would be nice.
Just my thoughts and thanks.

Lots of votes for ironwood:D
To the more versed: has GEC ever done a run of desert ironwood?

Cocobolo or another slightly dark wood, but not completely black like ebony can be.

Blood red bone would look nice.

If it was a #15 TC Barlow, I would have to say that a clip/warnie with deep red bone covers would be a fantastic combo! (albeit, a little unorthodox to have 2 mains in a Barlow)

Maybe a very small factory test run, but when I have asked about using it before ironwood was cost prohibitive.

Yep, just a very small factory test run. That's the only reason I didn't put it as my vote but it would look awfully nice on a GEC. Here's one of the 3 test run #73s (thanks again Mike!!) along with 2 GECs I had the covers swapped to DI.

Thanks for the replies, I had thought that ironwood might make a very special knife even more so! And your pics confirm this soundly2Dead:thumbup:

Wow! Those are beautiful!

Last night I got to handle a Spyderco Delica with honey jigged bone. It's gorgeous.

Also, a question. Has anyone seen birds eye maple used as a cover material? I'm pondering that with like a gunstock checkering pattern.

Oh, I like the sound of this! For wood, Bocote, the "spotted" type if available, and as for bone, something I don't remember seeing GEC do in quite awhile, blue jigged! I have one blue bone GEC, a #25 single spear jack and would love a #15 to go with it, especially with a wharnie and a clip

Thanks for the opportunity Mike!

Not an entry, just puttin' in my 2¢

If wood, ebony.
If bone, rich red jigged bone. (Unless made by Queen, in which case it would be amber stag bone.)
