Glock vs ZT, my edc combo

Can't beat a Glock for the money, they always work and hit where you aim. I like all guns period. Anyone can shoot whatever they own on my land as long as they're safe about it.

Aren't you forgetting something? This is a knife forum after all. :D

Not a problem at all. Just teasing. I didn't have a Glock in my pic.

The handle on that .40 looks so tiny but I think its probably about the same as my S&W except for my mag extension.

It is tiny. I have the 26 which is a 9mm but same size. I have medium sized hands and I curly my pinky under. You can get a an extender with a larger mag but I don't really mind it, even after firing a couple hundred rounds. The baby glocks are a great CC series. Lots of bullets and/or firepower in a small package. I carry a reload from a glock 17, so I am able to EDC 27 rounds no problem. :)

Does your aversion come from simply frequenting a shooting forum or is it based on actual use?

I can't speak for 120, but mine comes from actual use. Horrific trigger, cheap plastic sights, poor ergonomics, useless slide release & a plastic guide rod. Not to mention they're incredibly ugly and the Glock family is always feuding over money. And before anyone tries to bring up "Glock Perfection" and reliability(again), Gen4's have had recalls including one recently with the 17M duty pistols having the slides fall off.

That being said, as long as you guys are happy with your Glocks that's all that matters.

4 of the 6 Glocks I've owned:

That's a hell of a lot better than garbage hearsay. Can't argue with personal preference as long as it is backed with experience. And thanks for the kind words, it is better than being pooped on like above. I'm happy with my 26 Gen 3.

My experience with Glocks is that the trigger on nearly all of them I have handled has a nice short reset, and the break is comparable to any of the popular pivoting trigger stock guns (I prefer a good 1911 sliding trigger).

The magazine release has been just fine for me, and I have done a fair amount of combat pistol training, eg quick reloads etc, with my 23 without any gun related problems.

The gun does not have a slide release, it is a slide stop and is not supposed to be used to release the slide and chamber a round.

The grip to bore angle is different on Glocks than on 1911 and most of the other SIG/HK/S&W/Ruger polymer pistols, but that can be overcome fairly easily with "natural point of aim" practice.

Styling is subjective, I have grown to like them but in the mid 90s they were definitely a departure from what I was used to seeing.

I don't recommend them for an inexperienced shooter that is going to concealed carry unless they are going to train train train.

Finally - there have been a fair amount of recalls for each of the manufacturers if you look into it, Guns are mechanical devices an can fail. I did hear about the early police models that were having the slide failure, not good, but also a rare and uncommon thing for Glocks.

Good guns, well proven and very popular, selling millions of units.

Not for everyone, but we are living in the golden age of handguns, if you can't find something you like, you aren't looking.

Now back on topic (at least it is a ZT and a pistol...running out of Glock shots...)

I inherited a couple Glocks and just got the S&W. I need to take them all to the range and run some rounds thru them.

The fact that the magazines are some what interchangeable between some of the Glocks of the same caliber is very cool.

Yes it is. One of the biggest perks.

I hate to turn this into G reliability rant, but since people share opinions, here are my $0.02:
Never being a fan of Glocks, years ago, out of curiosity I purchased old gen3 Police G22. The most fun I had with a gun. It's a Lego gun, I shoot 3 calibers easily, went trough all the BS of changing springs and such, now I'm running stock springs and G Pro configuration with only 15lb recoil spring on tungsten guide rod. Absolutely love it. Looking forward to get fde G23 gen4. What you're saying about the trigger is true up until gen4, whatever gen4 Glocks I did shoot, they have very decent triggers straight out of the box.
Reliability - well, they dumped the r&d tests to the Glock community, this is how Glock is "fixing" their problems, example is the little .380 they released few years back, but I don't care about those, other than this, I personally find Glocks to be extremely reliable guns, tested it against my 226x5 and even wasn't better than the Sig, it was almost there. Great guns, great addition to the tool box, that's what they are.

If that were the case Glock would not have:

A. Made it so the piece drapes over the side of the frame.

B. Wasted time texturing the part for better grip.

C. Sell an extended version that they also make stock on their competition guns.

D. Tell you to use it as such in the user manual.
