Going clipless.. what's in your pocket?

I take the clips off all of my sub 3 inch bladed folders and drop them in my pocket. I usually have a Delica, a Dragonfly, a Caly3, or a Benchmade 707 dropped in my pocket sans clip.

Mini Tuff Lite, or Salt 1 plainedge. Bosses at work don't like to see clips on pockets, but I don't like to be without a knife.

Only my SAK's get carried without a clip. I always carry a SAK, and a larger folder (clipped) or fixed blade.

Today: Sebby clipped, SAK is not.

Thanks guys! Yes, Brancron is correct, they're all made by Jim Dunlap. Top one is a Back-Pocket trapper, bottom two he calls Shadow's. Jim's work ranges from $250-$500+ depending on what you get, well worth it IMO:)

Are the shadows linerless? Every time I see your Dunlap(s) in that marble carbon fiber I want one.

I've been carrying my T.A. Davison linerless slip joint, my northwoods presidential, my Victorinox classic, and GEC 72 lately. I carry both the Davison and Northwoods in pocket slips/sheaths.

Thanks!

The LSCF Shadow is linerless and the marble CF one has steel liners. I got the marble pair directly through Jim, so I added a couple things that made it "mine".

I'd like a slip made by Todd Davidson eventually, and Hiroaki Ohta is very high on my want list too. Every slipjoint Hiroaki makes has me wiping drool off my chin!

My BM 940 sits down in my pocket, it is by far the sharpest of all my knives. Sadly, it sharpness is rarely needed, but.. when it is needed :)

I take the clip off all of my knives. I hate clips. Larger knives I carry in back pocket (my 710 sits perfect at a slight angle in my back right).

I'm with you. Pocket clips ruin the ergonomics of a knife, and only make it harder to get out of and back into the pocket. I carry my Griptilian, 710, Contego, and Adamas clipless. If I was going to do something very active where I was worried about the knife falling out of my pocket, I would use a belt sheath.

I carry my wallet, phone, and keys without a clip and they stay in my pocket just fine, just like my knives do.

Whenever I get a new knife the first thing I do to make it a better knife is remove the clip.

Not as exciting as some of gorgeous custom slip-joints posted here, but I am EDC'ing a Victorinox Climber or Ranger in my right front pocket for years (together with my Millie clipped to my right back pocket). Sometimes I carry a thinner Alox Vic in my watch pocket instead. And if summer weather allows me to leave my jacket at home I often carry my Juice S2 in my front left pocket as well.

I think about 70-80% of my current collection is clipless. I hate how a clipped knife blocks access to your pocket if you wear slimmer jeans.
These are the current favorites!

I carry a Spyderco Des Horn that Spketch was so kind as to modify so the clip can be removed. It is very nice. The Spyderco Air is another good one. A lot of people cried about it not having a clip, but frankly it was the best possible decision.

I carry all of my "gentleman's" folders clipless at work, such as ZT 0770cf, Brous Bionic auto, WH E-10 because I work for a liberal company and a knife is unwelcome in the office setting..."we have scissors for a reason" I was told when I had by HUGE Kershaw S-30V clipped to my jeans pocket on a Friday. Ridiculous

My Wife sews in a knife pocket in all my jeans and dress pants. As a result most are carried clip-less,works great!

Now this is a good idea I need to talk to my wife about this...
and it drives me totally bananas to even have my case Russlock flopped over in my pocket much less anything bigger

I carry my Spyderco Chaparral clipless.
I have several Dragonfly2s and I carry one of those clipless.
My Alox Victorinox knives are naturally clipless.

SAK clipless in RR pocket. Dressy days I often carry a Delica lightweight clip removed in RF pocket. So thin and light, I hardly know it is there. The bidirectional texture prevents it sliding out in cars or reclining chairs, unlike my Tinkers that always got lost when I carried them in a front pocket.

I love the wear on that knife! The 940 is on my must have list, but I've not been able to make myself spend that much on a knife (kids, bills, etc. take priority and create little discretionary income). Yours looks awesome.

So I don't just detract from the thread,... I carry almost all of my knives clipped. And tip up if at all possible.

I carry a Vic SAK, traditional folders, and sometimes knives with clips (Delica, ZT, etc). I carry knives to use and I use them every single day. Tip up or Tip down, don't care and I would use them the way they come.

I don't particularly like clips and I don't particularly like thumb studs.
