Yes, thats right..... I am going to try to carry one knife as my main EDC for one year! :eek:

I have always wanted to give it a shot, and I feel ready to do it. One look in the gallery in my photo thread will show you how many knives I have been through in about three years time. "The want" for a new knife is almost totaly gone. Now its time to enjoy what I have.

Rules are simple...

I will try to carry this knife as my "main EDC" for one year. I can buy more knives, I can carry other knives with it (like a slippie in the watch pocket, or small fixed on belt/IWB,) and I can carry my knock around knife when in my PJs lounging around the house (ZDP delica/ZDP Caly3/Small Sebbie.) But, if I mow the yard... if I go to work (:D)... if I have a "honey do" ... I will have this Large Micarta in my pocket!

Does anybody want to join me? :eek:

Good luck with that. I have a hard time edcing the same blade for the length of the day. x.x
 
I carried my gerber AR with me for over 2 years.....its got pretty beat up but its still decent...I have never been the type to rotate EDC's I usually pick one and stick with it till its broken...
 
This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where they had a contest to see who could go the longest without masturbating. Good luck.
 
How can you let so many great knives just sit there? :eek:

I applaud what you're doing, I don't think there is any way I could ever do it.
 
I carried one knife for about 3 years. My son carries it now from time to time.

Good luck man but I don't think I could do it.

I switch 2 to 3 times in a week...I switch between the same 5 (or so) knives....does that count?

im game starting today its just my bobcat.
except on sundays ill have to have my smaller folder.
and every now and then ill "need" my gerber profile.
and ill have to exercise my maniord custom every week.
and i have to have my 119 for sentimental reasons.
other than that its just the bobcat.
 
Glad you could join me. :D And thats a real nice knife to do it with.:thumbup: I've been carrying a Victorinox Pioneer Rancher daily for over a year. Sometimes alone, sometimes with another SAK or slipjoint, sometimes with something more tactically oriented, but that one has found its way into my pocket on a daily basis. Lately an AGR Eagle's Beak has been riding with it pretty often.

Agreed. I'll grab a knife, go out for the day, as soon as I get home I switch it for something else. Then probably switch a few more times throughout the night if I stay home.

Using the same knife for even a week would be really really hard for me. I can't imagine trying to do it for a YEAR.

It's been something I have always wanted to do. But my hunger to try "new" knives was too great to try it. Now I feel I have enough experience with what I know I like....I feel ready to do it. :cool:

A lot of very very nice knives out there, it's just picking the one that's best for you and giving it a go!

A have carried a midnight manager 2 in the watch pocket for well over a year everyday. I now have switched it out for a Rambler, but it also has more than a years worth of EDC on her :cool: Best $20 I ever spent :thumbup: (the Rambler.. It's almost as thin as a classic, but has a real mini screw driver on it... Not that V'ed flat head tip called a driver)

I just went and look at your Gallery thread. You have some nice knives. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, but that would be too much temptation for me.

I've been working on carrying the same knife for one full day. Once I can do that then I'll try to work up to a year. Who am I trying to fool.
Good luck with that year thing.
 
I keep feeling like sticking with one knife for a long time would be alot more satisfying than the constant rotation and search for the one.

I've been carrying my BM930SBK Kulgera since I got it. Every day. That and my Kershaw 1660ST Leek. My old 551 Grip was carried daily for about 2-3 years, and now my little brother carries it on occasion. I've never had enough good knives to carry on a rotation. But I plan on changing that up here soon. :)
