GONCZ Titanium Knife / Flashlight continuation thread.

well, as people are returning from the shotshow, some really good stories are being told!

hopefully some people will pipe in here ;)

Size15 asked about this knife. It was one of those old metal handled cheap daggers with a bottle opener towards the hilt, it was not titanium but was plated and had some sort of finish on it that looked like casehardening but was shiny.

He refused to compare lights, he was very very rude. He not a nice guy. He stated the Roth was a Young Iowa potato farmer. Hmmm, I don't see anything with potato farming but I thought Iowa was more known for Corn. He did not like other lights in his area.

Most of his samples were non-working samples. And the ones that were, were junk.

Goncz....you are a shmuck.

I must say that Mr. Goncz was a very rude individual. He is in person exactly as he is here on BF. He threatened to call security on Al... Size15s... and threw the "F" word around quite liberally. Never really got to see any of his products in action... none of them had batteries in them... And when asked if the knife he showed off was titanium, he answered "No." Many witnesses to that.

When I stopped by the booth, there was only the guy with the Goatee and an attractive young lady. The lights I picked up didn't work (suprise). Never saw Goncz himself... so I don't know if any actual "testing" took place.

I have still yet to receive a return e-mail as promised. No true apparent interest in actually testing any flashlights. I almost regret having suggested that g.b. attend SHOT.

The g.b. lights at SHOT did not even work and/or did not have batteries and when he and the younger fellow were asked about working models they just became more expletive about how their flashlights were "the best" and then started in with the challenging attitude.

I heard g.b. ask several visitors if they would become distributors but I did not observe any "takers" as most people seemed to take him in with a large amount of doubt.

On the good side there were quite a number of companies with some very interesting lights at SHOT. This would appear to be a very bad time for g.b. to have made a move to actually market his product but a good time for other companies to be in a market with g.b. as a competitor.

I do hope and trust that everyone made it home safely and as always, all the best.

:D

What can I say?

Stay safe,
Emanuel Roth

What else can I say, except...

I'm not surprized that the knife is not titanium, revolutionary, or other-worldly... (but it opens beers!!:) )

I'm not surprized that none of his lights were in working order.

I'm not surprized that the light test didn't go through.

I'm not surprized that he was abrasive with potential customers-dealers.

I'm not surprized that he can't whistle down in the dixie land...

I am surprized that he even showed up!!

I am surprized that he has aparently convinced at least two other people to join the Goncz cult enough to join him there to spew the same crapola he dishes out here.

I am surprized that he even knows an attractive young lady... (hired for the show?)

I'm SO waiting for more people to chime in on this new chapter in this neverending thread.

The disinformation thread!

PS: Please someone... MORE PICTURES!! Especially the knife:)

Sounds like he knew, even though he would always deny it, that his lights are just inferior.

Not a single working light?

None of this surpises me at all, exccept disappointment in the picture taker from cpf that he didn't get a picture of the attractive young woman. ;)

Does sadden me a bit though, I had high hopes that this might be a sign of changing times on the subject. But it seems that I got my hopes up too soon

An account says that at least some of the lights where working, maybe that was early in the show, but where turned down or something of the like so as not to hurt the eyes of the show attendees.

Yeah! that's it! It was a liability to have such powerfull lights there! To buy a light you have to sign a waver of liability AND a non disclosure agreement!

Actually what probably happened is all the other light manufacturers approached Goncz to show only non functional lights. You see Goncz was going to put all the other out of business, so out of the goodness of his heart, still unhardened after fighting gay commies all those years, decided it was the best thing to do.

There have been some references to the "bandaging" to g.b.'s chin and jaw on CPF. I must say that there were, what appeared to be, substantial scaring over his jaw and chin as well as a fresh wound and a bandage that appeared to be moved from time to time. It would appear that he has either experienced an explosion, an incident with an acidic substance, or some continuing medical issue. All in all he did closely match a profile that was made of him earlier.

This also calls into concern one of the original questions that I had related to, the "overheating" of his charging system. My knowledge of instances of rechargeable flashlights exploding with an unknown company in the 1980's makes me wonder if g.b. might have been a victim of his own flashlight development and again, as to the safe operation of his equipment.

I was very disappointed with what I observed at SHOT (regarding g.b.) and now believe that g.b. is something of a tortured soul; physically, mentally, and spiritually. I experienced a great degree of pity for him at SHOT as I watched him almost pleading for customers and attention. He appears to hold a great deal of malice toward the world as a whole and if he could only redirect that energy and knowledge toward something better than feeding what appears to be his own poisoned ego, he could really succeed in something.

I also believe that he should have used the funds expended (something in the neighborhood of $3K for the booth, a minimum of several hundred $ for a terrible poster/calendar, at least $300.00 for the model/spokeswoman who attended the show with him, as well as any additional expenses) to either actually get his flashlights to work as alleged or to promote or enjoy something else. It was pretty sad to see g.b. place himself into such an unbalanced competitive situation. It is truly something of a tragic comedy to have seen him there and all I can hope for is that none of the people that stopped at his booth will receive something other than what they might expect.

It should also be noted that it appears that g.b. has moved or expanded his “operation” to Las Vegas and most likely out of Matt’s (the other fellow with him at SHOT) residence in that the address at 3753 Howard Hughes Pkwy #200 seems to also be a mail drop and “office complex”. Well at least he probably saved some cash by being able to crash at Matt’s place during the show. And since the model/spokeswoman was from LV, there was no additional expense there either. I just hope that Matt did not invest any money with the company yet.

All the best,

Stuart
