Gone and done it!!!!

So did you have a positive balance in your paypal or is it connected to a bank account or does paypal charge your credit card? I use paypal as well but it is funded with a credit card just for this very reason.

Paypal is showing that the money has alread been released to him. I think they only hold payment to people with low feedback or something.

I guess I wasn't clear? I was not talking about holding money from the seller or anything. When you pay with paypal it has to be funded somehow. This is what I am asking. Was it funded with you having a positive balance from past sales, or was it funded by your bank account, or does paypal charge your credit card? These are the only way I know that you can fund something using paypal.

If nothing else, you can always contact the bank and let them know you were duped to some extent. Explain that you read and thought you were buying a Custom Made Strider Collerctors Pocket Knife, instead you ended up with a Customized Standard Pocket Knife, that is basically deceptive sales practices and some people can construe that are fraud to a large extent (misleading the customer). The old bait and switch sales tactic of offering one thing and not being clear in the nomenclature used to describe the item truthfully. They may decide to do a charge back and give you your money back if they determined that some sort of fraud was commited on the part of the seller. I'd be pretty upset in that situation, then again I really tend to closely analyze any purchases over $100.

New standard SMF = $500, A real custom like that would be about twice that.
It's about $400-425 on the Exchange once in a while too. I got a SnG CC & a PT CC (both mint/new unused) for a great price. It all depends on being in the right place at the right time, mixed with the right amount of patience.

After several emails, opening a case through eBay, and finally a call to eBay I'm the owner of a pimped Strider SMF. With that said, I'm the owner at a greatly reduced and more than fair price! I'll go on to say that I couldn’t buy a comparable SMF for the same price even on the exchange. I hate that this was such a drawn out process but in the end I did like the knife to begin with. Could the seller have made his auction a little clearer, absolutely! Could I have done a little more homework on such an expensive purchase, without doubt! I will say that the craftsmanship to which the work was done is very nice. And I also think that if the seller would be clearer with people that problems like this wouldn't happen again as he does do nice work. At the end of the day I'm very happy with the knife. Is it a MSC or a DDC no, is it an authentic SMF that has some nice touches added to it, yep? Should it command the original purchase price, probably not!?! With this I think I’ve learned a very valuable lesson about people as well as Strider knives.

Let the flaming begin as I'm sure there will be some that think I shouldn't have accepted the knife at any price. And I began to think that same thing but at some point I realized that I purchased the knife because I liked the knife.

Am I to understand you got some money back?

It's your money, you get to spend it on whatever you want. If you like the knife then good deal. What works for one person doesn't always work for all. Good thing we have so much to choose from. Glad it all worked out for you.

I got two SMF's off of the Exchange. One for 300, the other for 360. Just gotta keep them eyes peeled! ;)

See, that's kind of the conclusion that I've come to as well. YES, I do like the knife. But at the same time, given the hard time I was given, and the shame of realizing that I was hamstrung, I'm not really happy with the purchase itself. I'll probably be keeping my knife, but I want to make sure that others know what they're getting into with this guy. Because he was such a d*ck, I don't really want other people to have the same bad experience, and I frankly don't want to see this guy still making money off of honest people who work hard for money that they think they're shelling out for a Strider Custom. ESPECIALLY if they're fellow Blade Forums members. :grumpy:

It sounds like he did. They must have worked out a better price? Guess we'll find out later??

I got a return reply from the "customizer". It reads:
Dear stelth,
Customized or custom, I do all the work on the production models in my shop, and my warranty surpasses Strider's no mater what!

what an arrogant cuss.

What to watch for in the future is if he changes the wording on his auctions (full disclosure). The guy may be an awesome knife customizer (is that a term?) and be every bit as good as his word.

His prices on past auctions have gone up to $1200 on pimped Striders and the customers loved them and gave 100% feedback. It's hard to believe that there's that many 1000's of dummies out there. :)

Nice, LOL! Yeah I wander the same thing as he insisted that he never meant to mislead anyone. And as far as the money goes, we struck a deal that worked for both of us. He got to keep some of my money and I got to keep the knife. He also actually invited me to trade the knife in on any other auction he ever has listed. I thought about taking him up on that with the Hinderer he has listed but I figured I learned this lesson and wasn't looking to learn another anytime soon!!!!!! I'm actually working out a trade (my ZT302) with another member over in the exhange forum, if it goes this bad I may never buy another knife for the rest of my life, lmao!!

By the way, I want to thank each and every one of you for the input with this situation!!!!!

No problem jdboy, glad to help out whenever possible. Just have to be a little careful in some situations. It's easy for anyone to get led astray in a situation like this. Enjoy your knife and I'm happy that things worked out for you in the end
