I think the biggest lesson to be learned here is never pay big money over the net if the seller or company is not reputable.
My buddy bought a "real steal of a deal" in his words
on the bay , a Nikon Stabileyes for "pennies on the dollar" in his words ( my buddy is a big fan of buying electronics online to 'save money' ) well the shmancy binoculars arrived and guess what ? No worky ! Seller was not even in the USA. He's mad as hell and cant do squat except cry to the bay and paypal and hope the seller didnt take the cash and close his accounts which in many countries is no big deal at all.
You could look at it this way , you got a decent looking knife to use out of it , I mean it is still a functional Strider and how many people really use their warranty unless they lack the pretty necessary skill of sharpening and have to send it in cuz the blade is dull...
$700 is a steep price to pay if you just going to spend the rest of your life bemoaning a perfectly usable knife , that is assuming somehow the seller does not buy it back from you.
Good luck in whatever path this takes you.
