Gone and done it!!!!

You can get his info right through eBay. Name adddress & phone number.

Michael. His name is Michael, but I don't think I have his last name. I saved most of the communications we had, so that's a good thing.

Don't you have to buy something first and maybe even make a complaint before that information is available? I can't find anything and don't remember being able to find that information in the past at least not until I had a problem with a purchase and started a dispute.

I just asked him a question via ebay "Is this customized by you or by Strider." If he responds to me I'll post it here. Maybe we should all do this so the guy knows we're on to him.

That's funny. I have been reading this thread thinking what a dirtbag this guy is and come to find out he's in my neck of the woods. I wonder if he ever sells at any of he gun shows locally?

Also, I don't think there is a blue tritium. Apebrains, I think you might have got a little bit of blue glow powder mixed in some epoxy.

I have a Traser Automatic with a blue tritium dial.
Blue is rare, but it exists.

An interesting thing about the blue tritium: night vision can't see it whereas green tritium glows like a torch.

Hope you get satisfaction!

As a side note, Tritium itself has no color, or light. It's emitting invisible radiation. Where you get the light/color is the coating on the glass vial containing the tritium. Depending on what the coating is, determines what color is given off. That might also account for the lack of a heat signature.

No, I don't know what the coatings are. My guess would be that the blue color might come from elemental Mercury.

Well here we go, I've opened a case today after receiving the knife. The seller has 7 days to respond as I've requested a full refund. After that it's in eBay's hands to wherther or not the listing was misleading or if I just misread. Doing this I stand a chance of still not getting my money back and also never having anyone to work on the knife if anything happens to it. I say this because I'm sure he's pissed that someone has finally caught on to what he's been doing and outed him to eBay!!!

I sent three such emails before he finally answered. Apebrains is right though, the work on the knive does look very good!

We should probably wait until you get this resolved but afterwards we can all do this.

Did you pay be credit card to paypal? If so all you have to do is call up your credit card company and tell them the item was misrepresented and they will give you your money back. I have had to use the credit card company multiple times and they ALWAYS refund my money. Paypal I think normally sides with the buyer but they don't always do the right thing which is why I make sure all purchases I make are funded with a credit card.

Edit: On a purchase that big they will require some information like the auction listing, any communication showing they refused refund, and probably a link to the Strider custom shop page showing the difference between a custom made Strider and a 'customized' strider. So I would try to make sure you keep a copy of everything including a copy of the Ebay listing.

Paid by PayPal, and yes I'm keeping every message or email between us. I'm just trying to do the right thing as the knife just isn't what I thought I was buying. The guy really may think he didn't mislead but I think the listing was very misleading.

I'm behind you guys on this one. I do like the knife, but that money could have been put into an RC or something that would still be honored by Strider. Now the guy told me that Strider should still warranty the thing, since he didn't alter it mechanically, but I don't know if that's true.

New standard SMF = $500, A real custom like that would be about twice that.

I realize this, and I paid $710 for this one. All in all I really do like the knife and I'm only trying to return it on principle. I think that his auctions are misleading and I'm trying to get him to understand that as well.

Yeah he told me the same thing so I contacted Strider. Josh emailed me back and stated that if the knife had been altered in any was the warranty was null and void. I told the seller this and he said his lifetime warranty would cover more than Striders anyway. Just a crappy situation all the way around!!!!!

So did you have a positive balance in your paypal or is it connected to a bank account or does paypal charge your credit card? I use paypal as well but it is funded with a credit card just for this very reason.

Yep, exactly, I guess he gives the same schpeil to everyone.
