Good edc blade for school

My two faves in that size and price range are the Case Swayback Jack (maybe a little more money) and the Victorinox Executive (includes scissors, and is just enough larger than the Classic to make it useful.) No locks, though. I don't have a decent locking knife under 2.5 inches - for my big hands, they're just too small to justify it.

Good luck.

Like the executive... With it I could stop carrying my Gerber solstice(though I probably wouldn't)

My vote would be a two or three layer 91mm SAK. Cheap, easily replaceable, useful other tools, very friendly looking. If you want locking, a couple of the wegner evo knives have locks, in that size. I've carried little knives, and I feel like you get more utility out of a SAK than out of a single blade at that size.
If you want a single locker, Take a look at Buck, they have a couple that fall under your requirements, like the knight, prince, 55 or colleague.
If you want to be silly, a SOG flash 1 is the right size (but might get you in trouble anyway).
The leatherman juice line lists the main blade a tenth of an inch over your limit, but thats another option as well, (I'd ask first) but that puts a bigger set of pliers in your pocket, as well as some other useful tools.
Over all I would avoid anything that looks too tactical or flashy. Stuff that says "my grandpa gave me this" goes a lot farther towards a warning, or a caution over a seizure and a record.
For a light, look at the Fenix E01, and E05. great little 1AAA lights.

Have you talked to any school admin or the SRO about carrying a knife? (And don't just say your friend does it). I ask because I find it extremely hard to believe you can't carry a freakin back pack but you can carry a knife in high school. You might not see a rule about it written but that doesn't mean you can't be detained, even arrested/charged with something, and just getting charged, wether or not it sticks (even if you are proven to be 100% not guilty) can ruins your life, and your to young to have your life ruined just to be able to carry a stupid knife to school.

Regardless of what the rules do or dont say you really need to do yourself and your parents (and their check book, cause even crappy lawyers arnt cheap) a huge solid and be 150% sure its cool. I don't know of a single high school anywhere that is ok with any size knife; even ones way out in the sticks and especially not one where you can't carry a back pack.

91mm SAK's are over 2.5in sadly, my Victorinox Recruit which is 84mm has a 2.5in blade exactly. I just measured my Recruit and Huntsman II right now to double check. But my Wenger Patriot comes in at around 2 1/4in, I am usually uncomfortable with any blade under 2.5in but this knife is the sole exception and I find the handle quite comfy despite it's small size. I highly recommend the Wenger Patriot or Victorinox equivalent, it's very thin, lightweight, as small as a credit card in length but it just works extremely well as a day to day EDC.

Oh and be sure the SCHOOL is OK with you carrying a knife, not just the Federal/State/Local laws, that doesn't matter if the school say NO. I live in California and K-12 it may be legal to have a 2.5in blade or smaller but every school I know has a Zero Tolerance policy which meant if you broke it your expelled no questions ask, it doesn't matter the reason, no exceptions.

What about a SAK ?
Edit : I should have read page 2 . Like cereal killer said , It is hard to believe it is OK to carry a knife but not a backpack. I would get it in writing from the Principal that you are allowed to carry a knife.

I think any "swiss army" type knife (SAK) would probably do well, I for one carried the SOG crosscut mini multi-tool in high-school, and though my school had a rule against any knife at all I had it out (in use) all the time, and nobody bothered me. Half of it is the school covering their ass for liability, the other half is protecting students. Neither a keychain multi-tool nor a SAK will get real sideways looks unless you live somewhere like chicago. Leatherman has some small multi-tools in your size range too. Any single bladed knife will look menacing to non-knife people.

No backpacks? Binders? I haven't seen any silly policy like that since middle school.

Count yourself lucky, do that at my old high school and you be expelled in an instant. Funny thing is they gave us razor blades, welding torches, sawzalls, etc in some of the classes there but a blade = weapon/instant expulsion. I had a teacher tell me to cut a car in half for him not once but twice with a sawzall which I was happy to oblige, but a Vic Classic in my pocket was too dangerous for me by school standards.

The Victorinox Cadet has a 2.5'' blade , really sharp and it is so thin and light that can be carried even in a wallet :)
Another idea is Spyderco dragonfly in VG10 - better steel, has a pocket clip, can be opened with one hand.

Don't carry an EDC knife to school .
Its just looking for trouble from the admin staff and teachers

I emailed the principal, who said it was ok.

Kizer Cutlery Klecker Design Ki3411A2 Liner Lock 2-1/2" S35VN Stonewash Blade, G10 and Titanium Handles but it's $100. I plan on getting one.

sounds like you need a leatherman Micra. if I were you, i would simply avoid carrying knife at all. if you must, myy recommendation is:
1) Leatherman Micra
2) Wenger microlight tool chest or VN mini-champ or midnight manager
3) VN classic (alox is nice for extra $4)
4) barely used like new SAK from eBay
5) VN cadet

stay away from trouble & enjoy whatever knife/tool you choose. :-)

Leatherman Squirt P4 (if you find it).

More useful than anything else, single edge but you won't need more. It also has those pliers and that thing for puncturing holes and cleaning the dirt from your nails. PS4 has scissors but I think it also comes with different tools

Victorinox used to make leather belt sheaths for some unknown folder that fit the Squirt perfectly.

Leatherman Squirt.

Carried this at school and even though small it comes in handy because of its quality. Used the scissors and small knife. It might be a little smaller than what you are looking for but it would be good to have in your edc as well as a smaller knife. As for the smaller knife what is your budget? I would recommend the Spyderco Dragonfly as it is affordable, but still good quality. There are many good small sub 2.5 in knives out there.

My high school had like a 2 inch blade lenght limit I think. I just carried a little Swisstech Utilikey on my keys because its tiny and doesn't draw attention. Even though I was probably aloud to have it I still didn't use it often and was subtle about it just to be safe. I might just suggest like a Leatherman Style PS which doesn't have a knife blade. You probably won't need to do that much cutting in high school anyway so the scissors on the leatherman will probably suffice.
