Im looking for a good edc carry (not like lightweight tiny ity bitty edc a decent sidzed edc, blade much be under 4 inches for my states law) and i also am going to use it for work

I had a previous post looking for something for 40 bucks but obviously it wasnt enough so i sold something and now i got 70.
I use my knife frequently throughout the day for cutting packaging and boxes (i work in a back room produce department at a grocery store) and i need something that i can carry with me everyday and also is a good worker and will stand up through the tough times aslong as properly maintained.

I oil my blades and sharpen them regularly

what are your suggestions (id prefer no spyderco cause iv had bad experences with them before but ill still give them a look if they get a good reccomendation)

Spyderco Native.Lightweight,S30V steel,I EDC'd one for years before getting a Para and I'm seriously considering going back to it.

My favorite one handed opener is my Benchmade Mini-Griptillian, with a 2-3/4 inch plain blade. It comes in a few flavors and blade shapes, and can be had in a larger size. I picked it up for 65$ on Amazon a few years back. Not sure of the price on a regular Griptillian.

the mini grip is like 78 now, id really not want to spend more then 70, cash is tight for me.

You can get it on amazon right now for $71.43 + free shipping!

ah okay, ill def consider that tho, ima spend the day (got weekend and today off) researching to make sure i dont regret
was also looking at a kershaw blur if anyone knows anything about those

Im going to second the buck vantage. Nice s30v steel and its quite the workhorse, but not too bulky. Amazing value for around 60$

Also check out the kershaw tremor. Big blade at right below 4 inches, sturdy g10 handle with steel liners, and a decent 8cr13mov steel which is plenty good for EDC.

Cost? 25$ on amazon.com

alright ill check it out, i like kershaws, my fav knife maker

You had said in your post before that one of the knives you were looking at was the Buck Vantage. Now you have the money to get the Buck Vantage Pro with S30V steel. That would make you a good edc with good steel. I know you said you did not like Spyderco but I would look at a Spyderco Delica or if you want bigger the Endura with FFG blade. They are well made and RAZOR sharp. I am sure Sal at Spyderco would want to know why you are not happy with Spyderco if he looks at this post. I think Spyderco and Sal would try to make you happy if you had a problem with one of their knives. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

i got a tenacious that had loose g10 scales on it, then i got anthor that had bad heat treatment and the blade was miscolored and had a pit
and got a byrd cara cara 2 that didnt lock up properly and didnt stay shut it would open a good inch regardless of what i did to the pivot screw , the only way to get it out was to tighten it but then it didnt open properly

If you like Kershaws, look at the Junkyard Dog Composite. I just ordered one for $69. Sandvik spine with a D2 cutting edge fused to it. 3 3/4" blade. An if that's too pricey wiith shipping, there is a non composite blade model for a good bit less. Not sure of the blade material on the non-composite though.

I'm recommending this one a lot.

Did you send them back? Those are Spyderco's cheaper knives but I am sure Sal would have taken care of it. The Delica and Endura models are VERY well made and I think one of those with the full flat ground blade would serve you well! Good Luck! Kevin

Kershaw Ener-G II
Steel: Sandvik 13C26 stainless-steel; Handle: Textured black G-10; Blade: 3 1/2 in
around $55 on Amazon, $55-$65 on Bay
Sturdy build and decent materials - real worker. I have it over year now and only thing I am not so thrilled is funky looking pocket clip.

yea i did send them back, no problem with refunds it just gave me a sour taste to spyderco.

I agree about the Buck Vanage Pro, S30V for around 50.00 (on ebay/buy it now). you cant beat this knife for the money. if you want to spend a little more you can get the newer version the Vantage Force Pro. mine came with the sharpest factory edge I ever recieved on a knife. all my knives shave hair but this one took off all the hair on my arm in one swipe of the blade. I am more of a Benchmade man, but cannot deny this is a great knife and great value.

Remember, you did buy their cheaper knives. The Delica and Endura are both in a better class in both make and steel. If you were to save more then I would say go for a Spyderco Native 5 with S35VN steel. Good Luck with what ever you pick for your edc. Kevin:D

The Kershaw Blur is a superb blade. I often carry a Blur Rescue at work (fire/rescue). It's just a ton of knife for the money, and lightning fast action.

HOWEVER, if you're mostly cutting packaging and boxes, a Spyderco Delica or Endura with a full-flat-ground blade is going to be tough to beat.

The Spyderco Manix 2 is pretty beefy. Or the discontinued but still readily available Kershaw G-10 Speed Bump, Junkyard Dog, or RAM.

Email me if you want to know a couple of good dealers that sell Benchmades for less than the normal price.

Kershaw blur s30v, spyderco delica or endura, cold steel lawman, Ontario rat 1, benchmade griptilian.
