Good wood handle knife that is classy as a gift

Classy? Doesn't get classier than the Buck 110

The Maple burl series of Case knives look great and you can hardly get more classy than those traditional patterns. For a non knife person I’d get either the Mini Trapper or the Mini Coperlock as a smaller knife is easier to carry therefore more likely to pick the habit of putting it in pocket. And those two are still big enough for a lot of tasks. But you know your new friend a bit better - maybe he’d enjoy a bigger blade so I think the full size trapper. I’d stay away of the stockmans and congress for a first knife, too tempting to open all the blades at once and this could lead to disaster fast. Don’t ask, I’m just surrounded by non knife people and I know 🤭

Not sure if these have been suggested, but Le Thiers makes some beautiful knives. The engraving on mine was done after purchase, but the filed back locks are standard from the factory. Super classy blades if you ask me.

I cant believe people are actually suggesting CRK's...I want to be NEW friends with you guys if that's actually the kind of gifts you give NEW friends. Some people will find a way to flex their finest knife any chance they get.

Back on topic, this being a new friend I'd say price point should reflect the price of the watch your going to receive so knowing that would be helpful. Not knowing anything about the watch I'd definitely stick to something smaller'ish. Especially if this person is not a knife guy yet. I do like the buck 110 but I just got my first one and I was pretty shocked by how large it actually is in hand. That size and weight will turn most people off. I'd definitely look at the smaller buck knives though. Not sure of model numbers but anything smaller than the 112 would be great and if you want to spend more $$ jazz it up in the custom shop with silver/nickel bolsters and some fancy wood or even elk antler scales. I know you said wood but antler and bone is also pretty classic and looks really good.

Even a cheap watch will be a similar price point as a Mnandi. I am fully in the camp of grabbing this for a new friend. It’ll turn them into an old friend quickly.

I recently made a friend who once I got to talking about his watch and my knives, he mentioned he switches it out every day, was like, I do the same with my knives!

Anyways he offered a watch to me at some point, asked me what I like and I referred to the classic look, elegant and such because I am currently rocking just a G-shok

I offered him a knife, asked what he likes, and wood handles + elegance/timelessness/classic vibe to it. I do not want to give some crazy super steel, but a good and beautiful starter knife.

My mind keeps drifting to the Opinel in Walnut, the 6 or the 8, probably. Lionsteel Gitano also passed my mind, but was afraid the strong slipjoint spring would be a hassle. Anyone got any additional ideas to consider? Thanks

Again, seeking a relatively easy to sharpen steel, wood handles and a classic, elegant look.

Oh and I intend to throw in a SAK, just like a Classic or something.
Sorry late to the game, what about a classic Boker Barlow or Trapper in wood handle?

They really do.......I had more women pinch n slap my ass when I wore my chaps out riding my Harley than I can count...I felt so violated🤔.....NOT........Also helps that a Harley is the biggest vibrator ever made.........
Except at our age, assuming you are older, that vibration will cause you stop for potty breaks on a long trip. ;) It DEPENDS!!!
