I thought that this thread was better in Customs, was overruled.

Tell him to get the flux out!

Some how, the maker needs to get the flux off.

What the flux!

The maker ground the edge too thick, damaged the handle material in setting the thong tube and now has weeping flux, WHICH is why I asked him to precision grind and set the tang into the guard...but he screwed that up too.

It is personal...the maker says that I have "put him though Hell" with previous commentary, which WAS gentle, but not entirely complimentary.

I'll PM him a link, even though he asked me not to contact him again.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Well, that's a shame, Any problem can be turned positive if the people involved can talk to each other. It's a "no win" situation for both of them if they can't.

I was kind of thinking there was more to the story, and I have no doubt you have the capacity to achieve a resolution through a phone call.
Worked for me, right? Sometimes just hearing someone explain their pov is enough to trigger a positive outcome for all involved.
This maker is faced with a pretty decent opportunity by setting things to rights with you, imo.

If a maker is not going to have a dialogue with you about setting things right when they've gone wrong with his product there would seem to be little choice in letting the community know about it in my opinion. Setting the phaser to stun rather than kill would probably leave everyone with a better taste in their mouths when reading through the details. I see where you said it's personal STeven and I understand that would make it harder to hold back. Still, consider what's really necessary to make your case if it comes to a "trial by Bladeforums" situation.

To be clear it isn't personal for me....I just want a new knife...truth be told....the maker dicked the dog on the one I have, imo.

I can easily give it to a collector not having the feelings about it that I do, and they will most likely be ecstatic.

Best Regards,

Hmm, Steven, you are taking it rather lightly which goes to show
that you really mellowed out all the way to your core - which in itself
is quite an achievement... So just go with what you said above!

What you said above is also what I would do...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Pay it Forward!

Who is it? Since this maker isn't interested in rectumfrying the situation i think it's time to know who this is. Indeed that's why we are here.

I'm moving this to Feedback where it should have been in the first place.
