Got one you're KEEPING and will NEVER USE?

I doubt I'll ever be able to bring myself to use my Crusader MOFO (except for zombie dispatch, it's very pointy:D) but I kinda knew that when I got it.
I got my 1 of 300 ASHBM LE with the idea to use it. But man, when I opened it up and held it, I was like, "Oh my God, she's so beautiful!" I suppose a Mistress will do that to a fellow. :p
I've got a Hog Gemini coming, I told myself when I ordered it I was going to use it, we'll see when it gets here.

For sure...

I believe even the most utilitarian type of items can rise to the level of art & beauty...

sometimes it's a "beauty in the eyes" of the beholder type thing...

other times it's universal,

for instance...

and regardless of anyone's stance on the "usefulness" of a dagger, EVERYONE's on board that the FMV8 is damn sexy looking...

You guys are veering into a discussion about semiotics, in the sense that we are culturally accustomed to viewing art objects as things entirely apart from everyday objects, yet most of us on this forum recognize that there is an overlap of these objects when you consider Busse knives. This is similar to how tribal and smaller-scale societies would weave artistry into their tools. It’s known as “emic art” by anthropologists, and I personally get a lot of gratification appreciating the beauty of these types of objects as they can be every bit as awesome and aesthetically pleasing as a Renoir or something, but in addition, they add function to our lives. I’d rather have beauty in my everyday life and activities than relegate it to a museum or snooty gallery.

Well said

Yes, Battle Mistress - Ergo, original series. The spine has been ground even with the handles, and the spine from tip to choil has been double cut. Reminds me of the frosted edge of a car window. :)

I really like the looks and can see why you cherish it. I passed on the 2G Ergo but I don't know if I would be able to if they offered that original profile again.
(Hint, Hint Boss :D)

As mentioned before, totally understandable Rob.
But, it begs the question, will you then be using that beautiful Silent Knight gifted to you and Karen in honor of your wedding?
That's one beautiful SK!!

Yes for sure!! Keep an eye out for an ironbark and flooded gum log splitting video coming soon. That false edge is killer on my mallet tho!!

:D

JOKES!!!

I will use it to cut air, and to admire :)

All these posts help a lot! :)

I kinda figured I wasn't the only one who had this "issue" but sometimes you just gotta ask.

And when I think of the ultimate "take ALL yer BUSSEs to the wood pile and beat em" poster boy, it's Rob Stanley.

So it's very reaffirming to know there's AT LEAST one pearl that's safe from being trampled benath his cloven hooves!

That one may end up being used down the track. It's such an awesome knife, it would be a shame not to bash the crap out of it.

This one on the other hand...

Nope. I have a few I haven’t used because I have dupes, eventually I’ll get around to them. #5 of 300 ASHBM has been through hell and back none the worse for wear. Mean heavy thrower! I carry and use my GFD Tiny Nightmare and edc some CS pieces and USE them.

Well I told my wife that was the plan when i ordered the 2 fm8's, of course i had no intention of not using both lol.

All of them ! I have yet to use a brand new Busse. So I started selling them and buying used , then I don’t have that issue.

I usually don't have an issue tearing into a new BUSSE...heck the second one I ever bought was a mint CGFBM and I etched and stripped it the day it arrived.

But I do admit, it does seem a bit easier to beat on one straight outta the box when she's already been used.

But this BM-e...I truly didn't expect it to have this effect on me.

Unfortunately, if I don't foresee using the knife I don't buy it. It limits my collection but at this point in my life I cant be collecting knives. (New baby, wife is staying home so down to one income, new house, remodeling, etc.) I keep telling myself "be happy for what you have!" I do have a nice little collection so far. I have a small, medium, and large Busse. (NMFBM, TGLB, Flak Jack CS Snow Hole version.)

Someday I'll have some grails that hang on the wall :)

Of all the Busse knives ive ever scored...i think this Nuclear Forsaken Battle Mistress is gonna have the best shot at being a non-user...

"Got one you're KEEPING and will NEVER USE?"

I wish there was only "one". :D

By the way, your BM-e is one of the last ones (the scalloped grips were a fairly new design at the time - most had the quilted grips); the Ergo series was discontinued soon thereafter.

Edit: I just saw the thread where you bought the BM-e. As Cobalt noted in his sale thread, it is an LE model. I'm pretty sure this was the only time LE Ergo models were offered.

Well I have found a use for my BG AK-47, instead of just waiting around for the Zombies. It is a quite excellent Bush trimmer and pruner. I get to have some fun going Hog wild slashing it when ever it grows out of control, can't have it taking over the sidewalk. I will probably use every one of my Busses eventually. After doing an inventory of my knives I probably have enough Busses for two full squads, and accompanying secondary back up knives from other makers lol
