I went without using the ASH for about 6 years. But I finally gave in... cut open and fillet'd the first Salmon I ever caught with it. All of my fillet knives were dull so I just had to lol. I do carry it on late night walks however...

As far as the Rat goes...The american flag makes it to much of a collector to use... and I may give it to someone when the time arrives. Hell, the Ratweilers are at such an affordable price i'm sure eventually ill end up buying a beater from someone on the exchange. Love the feel of it, really want to use one :").

Wow, a Busse Steak Knife with canvas micarta grips instead of G-10 - I think that is the first one I have seen.
The .090" hollow-ground Elmax does a great job slicing meat, raw or cooked.

Here is the one unused blade I own and only because I may sell it or coat the corn cob handle with epoxy to fill the small voids.

It is beautiful just a little porous and seems like it would absorb oils and grime if used, especially if as a steak knife. I am definetly not the safe queen type so I have to protect the handle and use it or let it go.

Yup a corn cob could harbor some nasty microbes I'd wager.

G10 and paper Micarta is the best for food prep BUSSE's IMHO

I’ve used micarta in other brands for food prep and not had a problem. Isn’t a big deal if you wash up after use. At least in micarta (canvas, specifically).
