Grail is an over used term.

"_______ is over used" is over used :D

Seriously though, who cares what someone thinks of as their grail. Does a 19 year old in college have the same grail as a 52 year old stock broker? We love knives and aspire towards certain ones, call it what you want.

I dont think there is such a thing as a grail. i thought i had my grails so many times, untill another cool new design comes along....

Yes yes, once you have a grail in hand it becomes just another dull, boring cup.:D

My grail knife is the one the Barbie twins and Cher use to cut off all my clothes just before all three of them ravish me.

maybe I'm on the wrong forum.....

I have already attained my Grail knife. It is a production red handled Wenger Swiss Army model my father gave me for my 12th birthday (I'm 46 now). The tweezers are missing and the tip is broken from making a wooden canoe when I was 14 or so. There is no knife, custom or production model, which I would take in trade for this "grail" piece.

I have an affinity for most knives so "grail" really doesn't apply to anything that I seek currently. However, if we are going to add terms that are throw around too much..I think that "grail" is one, "Mint" is another...last but not least,..."tactical" If I had a nickel for every time I have seen that particular term, I would be rich.. :D

Let me add to your list, if I may :D (hair popping, tree topping, air bleeding)

I like referring to my next eagerly and highly sought after while elusive or rare knife as.... the "white whale."

Call me Ishmael! ;)

I don't have any grail knives, just knives. Some cost more than others and some were more difficult to obtain. Knife nuts seeking "grail knives" does sound kinda dumb. :o

It really doesn't bother me to read it though cuz I know my bros are wanting to, or have just scored a knife they were lusting over for awhile. :D

Seems like the OP and most posters on the first page(that's as far as I read :p ) just don't really understand the symbolism of The Grail.

The Grail is about the quest, and it's usually a quest nobody finishes. Always looking for it, never finding it. And in the end, it might just be a simple wooden cup that was in your cupboard the entire time.

So, when the term is correctly applied to your favorite knife it could be an $8 Opinel, or a several thousand dollar, one off custom.

As knife enthusiasts and users we are constantly getting new and different knives, even with dozens of perfectly suitable tools at hand, sort of scratching that incurable itch. When someone says they found their grail it means it's probably going to push everything else out of their pocket, and they'll no longer need to buy more because they finally found the one. Though I know in our case that most likely will never happen, I can understand where they are coming from.

But yeah, the term probably is overused.

"Grail" is just an excuse for conspicuous consumption. When the Revolution occurs, and the bourgeoisie are divested of their pretty prizes, no one will be talking about grails. Biscuits. Everyone will be talking about biscuits.

Can I cut my biscuits with my grail knife? I mean, I'm not down with the rules of engagement for how to act when "the Revolution occurs." :D

AWWW..... the "grail" ! that's how we do it in the South yaaww !

There are many terms that are used. "over"use is subjective. Tolerance is an underused state of mind in MY opinion, but my opinion should matter no more than anyone else's.
