I saw the new GEC 3 1/2" jack and have to say that this is the model I have been waiting to see for some time. Right in the middle between the bigger models and the small 3" barlow. I am referring to the one with the clip and pen blade at the same end. I have only seen Tidioute models so far so it will be interesting to see what the Nothfield versions will look like. I hope this configuration does well to see more offerings in bone choice.

Anyone have one? How are the springs on it?

The Northfield Jack (if it stays true to form) will likely have: a long pull, threaded bolsters, and be available in stag (and other "premium" scale materials), and perhaps more swedges.

I ordered the Ebony Tidioute last night. I am looking forward to it.

I've been waiting for that serpentine jack also! A little shorter than a Case 6318 stockman, but maintains the width, near as I can figure.
I'll wager it comes out in a stockman eventually!

Received mine today in the ebony wood. F&F are excellent. No half stops and not a nail breaker. I'm very pleased.

sure would like to see a pic of one of these... GEC really needed to fill the 3-4" gap in their lineup.

Yes I saw it and am very excited as well. I would like to see a clip and a warnie instead of a pen but thats just me.

i just chased down a pick on gec's website. could'nt find one on my regular haunts. can someone PM me on where these can be located?

Here are the factory pictures of the first four released.

The ebony does have some light striations in it, so not a pitch black in most cases and the river valley green is much darker than we are accustomed.

I get a kick out of these guys dying bone. About 15% of the time they have to change the name at production time because the bone doesn't look like it did before. The have about 5 different antique amber's ;)

Could someone check the length on the main blade? I'm thinking of buying one, but I have to deal with blade length restrictions at work. Thanks!

That's a great looking GEC!! It's not Fat as the other pattern's GEC makes!!
That's the only reason I've never bought a GEC!! But this one has
changed my mind! Thanks for posting! I'll have to check on
buying one of these!

well... i couldn't stand it any longer. i've been wanting to try a GEC and this new jack pushed me over the edge. i just placed an order for the standard jig orange.
thanks grademaker and jeff for the links.

I like that a lot. I'm a sucker for ebony. I'm not a huge fan of the muskrat blade configuration, so I've been waiting for a stockman variation on this pattern. But these jacks are pretty tempting!
