Great Eastern Cutlery: #66 - Equal End Serpentine

Mail just arrived here! Dark Chestnut with propeller shield. A beautiful knife!
As others have noted though, virtually no walk or talk on the secondary spring. No real snap at all and the spey and sheepfoot blades have to be 90% pushed closed before they will softly seat themselves
Not a deal breaker, and I will happily carry it and use it, but a little disappointing on a $120 knife. Seems to be an inherent characteristic in this run.

Beautifully executed knife, I have one of those on the way as well...couldn't resist. Interesting about the walk and talk, both of my new 66's have light pulls but confirming "snap" when closing the secondaries. Perhaps yours will improve with time/flushing or maybe I was just lucky.

It is pretty, isn't it!
The secondary blades do softly seat themselves, but it's more of a "click" than a "snap". I will try flushing them out, but with it happening on both ends, I think it's just a characteristic of the smaller spring.
I actually thought the springs would be equal sized, but the secondary is discernibly narrower.
I checked a random selection of some of my other medium stockman knives...Case, Boker,
Colt have springs that are the same size. Buck and Schrade USA have a smaller secondary spring...but all have good strong walk and talk, so I guess the spring width doesn't automatically translate to a softer pull.
Again, just a feature of the knife that makes it a little different. It's my first Calf Roper and I like it too much to let it bother me any more.

Received my chestnut #66 today, it has way better walk and talk than my other two from this run. Just a fyi Ive been carrying my ebony #66 everyday since last Friday. With mineral oil flushes and regular use the walk and talk has improved.

Looks beautiful. I finally got my Tidioute jigged bone today and I love it. Same "problem" on the secondary spring though, I hoped it'd be a bit crisper. Still a wonderful knife!

Got my dark chestnut as well today and same issues , no snap on secondaries . My old calf roper from five or six years ago was the same way , just figured I got a bad one . It did improve significantly along the way . I do think they will get better with time and usage but I would still much prefer strong snap .

My ebony has good snap on all 3 blades (clip is best), but I will definitely be adding a request for a walk and talk check on future 66 orders.

I have a low tolerance for lazy snap, but as I said, my ebony is great. Are any of these coming with buttons, btw??

Thanks all for the nice compliments.

I'm happy to see GEC coming back to some tried and true patterns. The 15s are great, but the 66s are some of my favorites.

Words cannot describe the bliss I feel for this run (or previous runs) of 66's. :)
It's one of my favorite patterns, and GEC is batting 1.000. :D

I got a button with my Ebony but my Antique Autumn and OD Green didn't have one.
