Thank you very much gentlemen, I shall have to buy one. They are rather elegant those #92s.

GEC "Pen" knives. Top to bottom, GEC #33 Conductor, #53 Cuban Pen, #68 White Owl, #89 Gambler

Thanks for showing these Trand. I'm a devotee of the single-spring knife, a test of skill nesting those blades and getting the spring right. I suppose the 57 Half Whitt would count as a Pen type knife, it being single-spring?

Been brooding about one of those Cuban Pens in bone, but I think it's going to be too heavy for my carry tastes, fine example mind. I've got the same Tortoise Conductor and it's a beautifully made knife, a real gem, its larger sibling the white Owl in Kryptonite is also much admired by non-knife types. Acrylics can really make a knife sensational.

I'm really looking forward to the next Northwoods project that looks like a Norfolk! Another fine single-spring pattern, if they get the Wharncliffe to be long enough, use NS liners it will be Knife of the Decade as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks, Will

Sorry about the quality of the cell phone pics. The sun was down, and my hand shaky from one cup of coffee too many. My cell phone does much better photos in the proper lighting situation.

No problem. I suppose the #57 Half Whitt counts as a general "pen knife" but is better classified as a half whittler. I put "Pen" in quotes for these because I feel (and could be wrong) that some of these are bigger than you would expect for a pen knife, ie the #53 and #89. Also, the #89 actually has 2 very slim springs rather than 1 larger spring but it works in much the same way so I included it.

As for the #53, I really do like that pattern. In my daily life, I do a lot of food prep or things that only require a small blade to "dirty" up like opening packages. Anything more than that and I use a different knife. The #53 feels in hand like a heavy duty single blade knife but it has the bonus of having an extra pen blade. Plus, I really like the simple and proportional look of this knife.

Blue beauties all, Boggs, and all the more striking in array.

In addition to your great pictures (again!), thanks for including the knives' descriptive information, including their years of production-- that helps me understand their "what" and "when?" once I move past the initial visual impact.

[It probably also forestalls a lot of questions from the Peanut Gallery. (What is that one? How many blades? Wait, when did GEC make those? ... :D)]
