Great Eastern Cutlery ( GEC ) group shots / photo requests

So I figured we needed a place to compair our GEC's. Looking for that new pattern can be hard without a comparison pic, so lets see your group shots. Or if you dont see what your looking for, ask. Updating your collection pics is always welcome :D

I will start with my very small collection and I will also ask for a comparison shot. First my three:

1. #71 Orange bullnose redneck farmtool
2. #79 Montana workhorse whittler with micarta(sanded for traction)
3. #66 Serpentine Jack yellow rose

I would like to see some similar shots of a 57 gheppetto whitler with a 66 stockman? Hard to compair their sizes from different pics.

So lets see your collections folks, give us all a chance to see some gec group shots.

Thanks
Jeff

These are all so nice I have a hard time naming my favorite! My favorite as far as appearance is the one in the middle...the mauve, purple colored one. My favorite blade is the last one... very nice knives! Breathtaking!

Well, it's taken long enough to do anything about this, but here are the Charlows I posted in another thread.

The red orange one in the middle is absolutely beautiful! I love it! You have an awesome knife collection. I was just shopping for knives today and saw one that was similar. I can't wait to upload mine! What do you think of Case knives? One that I ordered was Case.

Some acrylics....

A GEC 33, 66, 76, 85 and 54

I saw all of these today when shopping for knives on the net. I almost bought the green one you have there.. I had it in the cart, actually. So question..is it a good knife? Well made? Etc? I did put it in the cart for later..

Second picture..number three..I saw that today and ended up not getting it. But, now that I am seeing it in your picture you've posted here...I regret it. It looks much different here than on Amazon, or wherever I saw it. Beautiful!

I'll answer and say that GECs are all very well made. The quality control is pretty high and GECs are touched by a lot of hands in the factory. I've only had a couple issues with them over the last 9 years of buying them. GECs fixed both my issues.

Question..first pic, knife number 3, dark wood handle: I was curious...do you know if they make one like that with a more pointed blade--like the blade on the first knife that is black..that is one of the types of blades I love. I love this knife, but I would prefer it with a more pointed blade. I tried to find one today exactly like this, with different blade and had no luck.

Thanks Brisket and Peter,

Your pics helped me (or according to my wife .... caused me to) seal the deal on this little guy.

Just a few cell phone pics. Bet an awesome knife. The mark side is missing some of the dark burnt coloring in a few of the jiggings but still looks great. The pile side is just about as perfect as I've ever seen. The joins also need a little oil....all in all very happy.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have a few photo requests;

In 2008 Great Eastern made a run of 57 unserialised 252208 barlows for the open house event. Most of these were gorgeous acrylic that I cannot find many images of anywhere. Can anyone help me out with a juicy photo or two?

Also from 2008 the following covers on the 252208 barlows I haven't seen;

Abstract
Purple Haze
Rose Petals
Brown Bone
Honeydew
Duck Feathers
Brown Jig Bone
Green Jig Bone

Yes yes I know... my obsession is getting the better of me.

Thanks,

Paul

Just bumping this request, as I expect many missed it - I'm looking at you AKC!

Paul, here is one you may not have seen before, I certainly had not.

It is for sale right now on the big auction site (not mine!).

A very interesting acrylic that one, I think it's unique too. I've not seen it on any other pattern... I'm prepared to be corrected... :)

Looks like your talking about the Walnut TC Barlow. That one has already come out in Sheepsfoot, Clip, and Spear. At this point, you'll have to watch for them in the secondary market. The Barlows aren't really repeated. We'll just have to wait and see if Waynorth commissions more Barlows in Walnut.

Purple Haze

This was posted in a wee thread on 25s. ;)

It's funny how a pattern might not stand out over another in others' repeatedly-viewed pictures, then suddenly it's all you see (and maybe want)? Maybe sort of like when you've put money down on a car, and then you see them Everywhere?

Either way, I knew I liked GEC's purple haze, but it was only after seeing your picture above that it registered in my brain as a purple haze barlow:

Yeah, that helps. O'course, Blue Haze would work, too, and still evoke this pattern's colloquial moniker, "Starry Night." ;)

All of two (2) were produced.

yay.

Here are a few of the first group, I'm digging out the rest, More pictures to follow
