Great Eastern Cutlery Prices

I'll just add this... got an email notification at 11:45 AM this morning from a vendor , that a Bayou Trapper was available.
Went to the site and a 15 minute timer for a drop was up .

Hit the "buy now" button when the clock hit zero, got to checkout , my CC was already stored, but asked to confirm CC#
Reentered CC# and hit " place order " and got a message that the item in my cart was sold out.
This was in a time span of 30 seconds.

Literally the exact same experience as me lol. I originally thought the drop thing was a good idea...but the in stock time went from 2min down to 30s...

I gotta stop buying these things. 170$ is a little high even unflipped.

I had everything ready the night before....then, the very instant it was available for purchase, i added it to cart but it died in payment processing ....all of 20 seconds later...

Same experience. It’s ridiculous. The lolly scramble is ok. I accept it. Putting additional impediments in purchasing is not. My thought as to any dealer who does this is: If I can never get a desired knife, because you made it next to impossible, then I will never buy any thing from you. Ever.

hell ive even come to accept some dealer mark ups, it reflects cost of business i guess. i dont like it, but i guess at least i have the knife. Some dealers are nicer about it than others, a modest upcharge. however it also reflects the limited niche theyre in. Dealers who sell other things, or many other things dont really upcharge their GECs much.

Yeah, some of these dealers almost seem to reset their sites on a drop, which stops people from being able to pay instantly. If you're signed in, and do quick checkout, you shouldn't suddenly have an issue with having to reenter ANYTHING. It should just go through, but this seems to be a constant issue with dealers.

Also, don't use Paypal. People who tend to score on drops always use ApplePay or have their credit card on file (for those sites that don't try to sign you out when the drop happens).

There has been quite a bit of talk about "bots" being used to purchase knives on drop. Could be dealers are trying to thwart that.

I mean... just to show how crazy it is, here's a used Eureka Jack being sold for new knife prices.

I mean, come on.

ETA: the asking price was $110, just in case it's removed later.

Not surprisingly, it lasted about two seconds, with one potential buyer only being interested because he could make a good amount reselling it in his eBay store.
