I agree davmgt they do come with a very nice factory edge. The kind of edge all knives should come with from the factory.

Which GEC knives did you get?

I got the jumbo trapper with the red jigged handles and the scout in bokote wood--both from Bill at cumberlandknifeworks. I really like the scout. As you pointed out, both knives have great edges out of the box, but the scout is a very good EDC size.

Yeah the scout is the perfect Every Day Carry especially in 1095, I look forward to using the un X ld Northfield I have in the scout model.

All right, sunburst, a question...

How's the 3 3/4" carry? I've have knives with that length that carried "small", if that makes sense. Is it a hand-filler?

That's a good question. I seem to be a trapper man, even when I'm not trying a trapper always finds it's way into my pocket. All those trappers have been the full size 4" 1/8" in size. This knife being 3' 3/4" is almost like loosening your belt notch one peg, this will allow extra room in your hand & pocket without losing anything while using it.

It's also seems to be a bit wider than most trappers and maybe that's why it does not carry small. Hope this helps you a little, I am going to enjoy this knife.
