Great Inexpensive knives

kershaw has so many knives in this category, it's almost unfair. I stocked up on thermites and injection when I found them on sale online, and have been gifting them to good friends and family, always trying to build that "always carry a knife" mentality. I have also been very impressed by a Real Steel H6 and a Harnds Talisman, both have excellent build and smooth action. Sanrenmu, Enlan, Buck, Ontario, they all have good offerings in this bracket. BTW, that Buck ascend looks really good, might end up getting one.

Cold Steel Kudu and Pocket Bushman are frequently used around the house. Great knives for their price point.

So many good brands to choose from.

Brands from China include Real Steel (they are getting pricier though), Sanrenmu and Enlan.

And on the US front, I'm always ready to give ,Taylor Brands BTI Tools some coin for their S&W and Schrade lineup for as long as they have nice < 3" blades in their catalog.

Sanrenmu is really hard to beat price vs quality. They come sharp and have not had an issue yet after buying 5. Moras are great too, and Rough Rider if you like traditional patterns.

Like many of us, my knife habit started with an inexpensive knife: the Kershaw Chill.
I've owned three and still love it, although I tend to avoid Kershaw these days due to the ubiquity of Speedsafe/8cr13mov in their catalog.
Some other great <$50 choices:

SAK Pioneer
ESEE Zancudo
Opinel
RealSteel (I have the E571 and E771, both outstanding)
Newer Byrds with CTS-BD1 (just got the Raven 2, get one)
Mercator K55K
Higo-No-Kami

to name a few.

For fixed blades, its hard to beat Mora and Old Hickory for the price.

the Morakniv is my weakness...

Understood. I went through a Mora faze and now have three lifetimes worth, lol. Still love em. The last time I used a knife was when I sliced off the plastic retainer for my gas cap, to replace it with a locker. It was about -15 and a howling wind, and pop, off she went. The bigger blade of the pocket bushman reached into the well and I had my gloves back on in seconds.

N nick37 - there are quite a few sites selling quality and genuine Japanese kitchen knives. However, the one provided by you is not one of them.
