Grimalkins Projects Thread

I was removing metal wedges with needle nose vise grips if I recall correctly. You just drill a hole on either side of the metal wedge into the wood wedge so you don't damage the haft. Then tap the needle nose vise grips into the holes and clamp on the metal wedge. Then you can pull the metal wedge and proceed to pull the wood wedge as above.

Grimalkin, I have never oiled my wedges. It seems counter intuitive to me for some reason. Not sure if it had something to do with your wedge backing out, just throwing it out there.

BTW, that head seems to be punched off center. Not much you can do about it just makes the hang a little more problematic. You did a good job dealing with it.

I think you are right. once side of the bottom is much thinner than the other. I didn't even really clue into that. Its going to bug the crap out of me, but I think I'll just leave it. When I was chopping with it, I really didn't notice significant problems, if any at all. The toe is on centre, its just the heel that is sticking out to the left.

Now I'm going to have to find another one...oh well! :) My wife will kill me. "tell me why again you need 2 of the same axe?"

In case the handle breaks, you have a back up.

Handles will walk around a little also. You will never notice it while you are using it. It won't hurt a thing.

Ask her, "Why do you need six pairs of shoes?"

I am getting behind on my sheaths, with 3 that I needed to do I banged out one today. This is the first time I did this style, I learned a lot, I'll be modifying a few small things for my plumb sheath next.

I opted for the D ring on the back so I could clip it upside down to a backpack if I wanted.
