Grind-In at Ethan's, Spring 2014

Man, that really was a heartbreaking moment. He was pretty excited about it right up until it cooled after heat treat. The whole project looked cool.

As far as the grind-in, it was great to see all the activity. I had 0 hand in anything that took place regarding the actual work, but as always, I was on hand to supervise. Many smiles regarding the entire process.

thanks guys! can anybody tell me what wood is it? I have no clue. There was a bunch of different pieces of wood, I just grabbed that one and have no idea what is it. The sheath is coming along nice, might be finished in a couple of days. Todd, that sucks but thanks for sharing and I know that your next forge will rock. And what do you mean by lack of proper cooling agent? we had canola there, right?

I didnt heat treat mine there. I brought it home and played With it.......As far as the wood on your knife. That came out of Tacketts bad. I swiped some of it to and he told me the name but I have since forgot. I'll send him a PM and ask him.

Todd, that knife would have been beautiful. Sorry to hear that it broke, but I'm really impressed with how you're rolling with it. You're a class act - like so many on this forum.

thanks tackett! and the big one is holding fine, I finished tempering as soon as I got home and since then it's been busting open coconuts and splitting wood in the backyard :D

the sheath is coming along fine. The technical part is done, now on to the fun stuff

This seems to be the place to put up our pictures. This is the only pic so far and since I took it I have continued to work on the edge, polish the blade, and put on an additional layer of tung oil each night. The wood is beginning to get a nice sheen which it did not have before. This knife may end up as as EDC. That's how much I like it.:D

Dynamicmoves - great to see you used yours on that steak!

Wow Steve, that turned out sweet. Some fine knives made and many fires lit.

finished mine up last night - haven't started the sheath yet.
no clue what the wood is, some kind of burl i had in the basement -- looks much better up close.
(the burl, not the knife)
