Yep, same here...

Not to rub salt or anything, but I gave tradewater the little lantern/flashlight I brought for you. :D
He'll be along shortly to say how cool it is.

Not to worry. I'll have you one at Blade.

We not only used it the entire time at the gathering, we've been fighting over it since we got home. I'm going to try to intercept the one he's bringing to Blade for the sake of marital equality. You understand I'm sure.

Just so they're all together, I think this might be the thread.
Sharpened, I'm really liking how 1084 sharpens for me. Didn't take much time and took an edge that will take hair off my arm.

Love seeing the finished projects. I loved being a part of it and helping out, however, I screwed the pooch on mine. I mangaged to give the forge a whirl, since it was all just playing around for me, I experiemented with some heat treating processes and well,..... it was a epic fail...........sucks. :grumpy: goes to show you that knifemaking is always challenging and when you think you have it mastered it has a way of coming back and kicking you in the rear!

The good news, I know what I did wrong, and will not longer repeat that process on 1084 :D

Nice work guys! Zulu, I wouldn't mind seeing the eventual sheath for that knife and how it performs for you down the road. Very nice work!

Todd, Nice work and props for showing a failure. Nobody is perfect. Some people would have never shown a picture like that. That would have been a cool knife.

Lets keep these pictures coming!

Damn. Hate to see that. What happened?

Exactly, there was a lot of people there at the gathering that wanted to see this thing finished. So, I thought I owed it to them. As far as screwing up. Im human, I sure as hell aint perfect. This whole knife was just for fun and learning, I did everything I do not do on a normal basis to learn. It broke. But you know what. I learned. So mission accomplished. I dont get to go out of my comfort zone on customers stuff or mine for that matter. So, im better for it............. as far as what I did wrong. Didnt have the proper cooling agent for 1084 on hand. But I wanted to hurry and get the peice done. So, nobodies fault but my own..............like I said, im human, and any knife maker out there that claims he hasn't had epic fails is one that lies.

That would have been beautiful, Todd.

It is really cool to see the knives that you all made at the gathering.

Todd can you reuse the handle materials? Im not sure how you put the handle on but hopefully thats salvageable..Looks like it would of been a sweet blade.

Thanks for sharing.

Well, it was an awesome thing for you pros to do. Hopefully we can do that again. To be perfectly clear, Todd, Terrio, Tackett and Vik put the clinic on. All I did was answer some questions for Psyop about forging while Vik was otherwise engaged. These boys know their shit and a big thanks for sharing.

thanks guys! can anybody tell me what wood is it? I have no clue. There was a bunch of different pieces of wood, I just grabbed that one and have no idea what is it. The sheath is coming along nice, might be finished in a couple of days. Todd, that sucks but thanks for sharing and I know that your next forge will rock. And what do you mean by lack of proper cooling agent? we had canola there, right?
