Gripitlian VS Alpha Hunter

Yeah I found it...I have thought about this knife before, and regreted that there was no upgrade for the 420hc.
I read somewhere that the s30v is CPM S30v which is 45% better then 420...is that rust resistant?

Yes, S30V is CPMS30V.

It's made by Crucible Metals here in the USA.

And yes, it is stainless steel (rather than carbon steel or tool steel).

One last plug for the 420HC choice. I have been able to re-edge Buck's 420HC to scarey-sharp quite readily with a Spydie Sharpmaker and leather strop. If my Spydie Native's S30V is any indicator, it kakes a good edge with a little more effort than Buck's 420HC - you have to know when to stop. That 420HC is nothing to sneeze at - and, if you did, you wouldn't 'have' to clean it quickly - it is quite stainless!

The 692 is the Vanguard in 420HC and a rubber grip - great for inclement conditions. The Vanguard is probably my favorite 'grab'.

Stainz, have you tried any of the diamond hones on your S30V?

No. While I am adept at putting single edges, like my carving/turning chisels and gouges, that are scarey sharp with Arkansas stones - and some diamond strops/hones, a double bevel edge is my nemesis. The Sharpmaker makes you work slowly - on both sides - seemingly averages out the 'errors'. I use just the original ceramic files - no additional finer or more coarse ones - yet.
