Ground Troop 35 (GT35) Design Discussion

🤔... So, in reading some of the above comments, specifically those with the diagrams....🤔

Is it an accurate assumption that this folder will not be very easy for disassembly to just clean & reassemble, or anodize the Ti frame & reassemble?
And- If it can be disassembled by the owner:
Will the warranty cover disassembly for basic reasons or mods (like deep cleaning/lubricating the folder or elctro-anodizing only the frame, without any modding of the BLOCK lock piece(s) or blade)?
Disassembly is not too difficult. There are very few parts. Gotta keep an eye on that compression spring.

We are working on the warranty as we speak!

The finished model, or Proto at least, will have the key parts that are detailed in the app. We know this, because Jerry confirmed as much <posts # 17 & #18>.

That's a lot of parts even if he pared it down by just half on the Proto vs. those detailed in his original application!

So yeah Jaxx, it boggles my piglet brain how all that "stuff" is gonna nest in an integral handle. 🤯

However, I have zero doubt that if anyone can pull it off, it's Jerry Busse & Co. or else I wouldn't have ponied up the loot on mine. No regrets. :)

*Edit-- oh yeah, I forgot to add >>> take note that he's got all those key parts seemingly suspended in there with some kind of magic with no visible means of support or attachment points from the outside besides the pivot and the single tail screw which likely is doing double, triple?, quadruple? duty securing some things plus the pocket clip!!! How? 😲

So how's it done Boss? Wauseon Witchcraft? hardened sour mash? duct tape? Enquiring Minds want to know!

Here's a list of parts for the Integral GT35:
One-piece handle
Blade
Two Caged Ball Bearings
Block Lock bar
Spring block with integral lanyard hole that holds the spring in place.
Compression Spring
Two "D" bolts and screws
Two Thumb Studs (One for the lock and another optional one for the blade)
Belt Clip

I'm actually digging the fact that while most of us were expecting the Off Duty of folders in thickness (😅), Jerry pulls a 180° & goes super thin & light. I'm excited to handle this folder, dang right I'm in! 🙂🤙

Jaxx,

As you personally know from handling the early folder prototypes at the BLADE Show over 10 years ago, they were huge in comparison to the GT35

They were the Hummers of the folding knife world, whereas these are more of the Corvettes.

These are light, fast, and have bodies that won't rust! 🤣

Did you guys have to retool to process titanium? I see really nice bevels, and obviously monolithic handles, that couldn't have been anywhere near cheap....or do you guys outsource?

Maybe we can get small limited runs of Busse Combat titanium nicknacks every now and then for fun

Hi Bossman,

I'm curious if you would consider making a "Heavy Heart" type folder with INFI and washers in the future - or more future folders in general.

I do not want to miss out but much prefer washers than bearings and also would love to get some folding INFI.

Cheers!

Surprise!!!

We are currently working on washers that will fit the GT35!!!

If they work well, we plan on including a pair with every Prototype GT35.

Then you'll have your choice of either ball bearings or bronze washers!!! . . . At no extra charge!:thumbsup::cool:

This two-for-one offer will only be available on the Prototype edition.

We have most definitely learned a lot about titanium over the past several years. . . Yowza!!!

We are running these in-house. And you are correct my friend, not anywhere near cheap!

Any tanto blades in the works? How about a GT3.0? It seems like every folding knife has a mini version and I end up liking those alot. Haha

Loving the additional details shared so far. The solution for the pocket clip is ingenious simplicity.

Is there a pivot bushing?

Are the order numbers sequential? If so, we should probably all whip ours out to compare.

I assume the large choil/ricasso portion of the blade was necessary to accommodate the locking mechanism when closed. If so, will that choil/ricasso be required in every knife using the Block Lock, or is there a possibility of future iterations without it?

All else being equal, I think the new lock design is cool and applaud the integral handle and use of thin AEB-L for the blade.
