Ground Troop 35 (GT35) Design Discussion

I could absolutely care less about the hardness of the AEB-L Steel
This War Dog 5 TP that I have in BC AEB-L has been outstanding thus far!
Great in the kitchen, great breaking down thick cardboard- touchups with a Ceramic Stone are a breeze
Honestly ive never cared about any knifes hrc
I've had a lot of different steels as far as pocket knives go ( I love cts204p bohler m390 and carpenters 20cv ) ive never had an issue with any blade steel
Maybe im lucky?
But, im especially not worried when it comes to Busse Combat Steel
This WD5 is the first AEB-L Steel ive tried and I love it
I dunno, maybe im missing something
I just use, sharpen, touchup, repeat, ....

Jaxx,

As you personally know from handling the early folder prototypes at the BLADE Show over 10 years ago, they were huge in comparison to the GT35

They were the Hummers of the folding knife world, whereas these are more of the Corvettes.

These are light, fast, and have bodies that won't rust! 🤣

Let's Drink!

Jerry

.
Don't toss out that CBT Jackhammer type blade from the 2nd prototype I handled @ Blade!!!
I'd love to see it on a future folder release, please!
😁🤙

I love AEB-L and her sisters!
Those steels are probably the most diverse in what they can do, I can't think of more rounded steels.
You can make wonderful chefs knives, wonderful choppers, EDC, swords, survival, etc. etc.
Other steels are way more limited.
It's like a stainless version of 52100. Really a Great steel. Often called a "Makers Steel" cause it's so fun to make knives out of it.

I don’t think you’re missing a thing, Mac. Back in the days before particle metallurgy when dinosaurs roamed the earth, AEB-L was one of the most evenly balanced steels in existence. And even in its more standard forms, It still holds up very well today.

Yessir!

From the other heat treats of Busse steels, the raw HRc might be misleading. An HRc of say 60 can be achieved in a single day, several hour process, vs Busse and it's milti day processes ending at HRc 60.

I certainly can be wrong but, I think I remember reading this somewhere.
