GSM Outdoors acquires SOG Knives

I personally haven’t bought a Cold Steel knife since they were bought out by GSM Outdoors,I’m just curious if anyone has noticed any changes other than Andrew Demko no longer working with them and the return of older models like the Recon Scout which is now available in CPM-3V?Im also wondering if this is a good thing for the future of SOG knives.2 or 3 years ago I could’ve cared less what happened with SOG but I feel SOG has done an excellent job over the past 2 years as they have seemed to have really stepped up their quality over these past couple years with more offerings available that are made in the USA as well as using better materials like carbon fiber,CPM-S35VN and CTS-XHP steel..I’m just wondering how everyone feels about this,is this a step in the right direction for SOG knives or is it a step back?

I have had many interactions with the "new Cold Steel". The highest person up the chain of command that I was able to speak with - projects manager- was unfamiliar with steel, "knife anatomy", and the product lines. Almost what you would expect calling Bass Pro or Cabelas, I am not getting down on the people I spoke with but they were not knowledgeable about knives.

Bad thing. Even if the quality doesn't decline, it's hard to imagine that a company acquiring multiple major knife brands won't lead to more homogeneity in an industry than can already be very prone to having a sea of similar knives when something hits big. For all their faults, and both companies definitely had some, Cold Steel and SOG both did some interesting things I wouldn't expect to see from other companies and it's hard for me to think that those identities will be preserved even if GSM really does try to do so. I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt I will be.
