gsm strikes again.....Gladius machete oh boy......

I don't know why they think this is a good idea.

Most people who buy machetes want to do some work with them.

They are not hobbyists who want to make their own customized machetes.

If one guy buys a GSM machete and another a Fiskars machete, any of their friends would probably buy Fiskars based on what they hear from those two guys.

People who are not already Cold Steel customers might think that the "quality" of the GSM machetes also applies to CS knives.

Thank you for the heads up. Yeah, looks like the writing is on the wall. I’ve got my small collection of CS. Just waiting on purchasing 2 more knives when the price is right. But if that doesn’t work out, it’s all good.
I’m sure there is somebody from the “mothership” that is reading this post…let’s see if they make things right.

I'm betting gsm just took the same csr's and employees, etc handling their other product lines and tossed this in their lap and said we are knife sellers now too........the phone folks have zero idear what they sell.....and don't know the names or products....last one I talked with couldn't find it on their website until I helped guide her to the product listing. the whole thing is pretty sad.......

I just hope Lynn got all his money up-front and not from a back end deal based on future profits and it being resold to some other large corporate buyer.........

naw no one from GSM reads here. I could reach out to them, but isn't worth the hassle to me. id rather spend that time and frustration on something else.........

I recently received my second Thai Machete . Wanted a backup in case that model is disco'd .

Not the best edge ever , but definitely sharpened and just needing some touching up . :)

Those are from South Africa , also .

Lots of guys nowadays just don't sharpen and ain't gonna like or keep a dull machete brand new . :(

Hopefully , just a QC glitch and not a new policy .

I guess they wanted to save a few bucks (or cents) on sharpening.

What next, instead of shipping assembled folders they just ship a box of parts and the buyer has to assemble the knife themselves?

I remember long before the internet, when my friends and I lusted after Cold Steel knives that we saw in magazine ads. We considered Cold Steel the "cool" knife company. What a shame it is to see a once great and revered knife company sink into the abyss of mediocrity.

K killgar , there was a time I considered Cold Steel top of the line. I guess I still revere CS and feel well equipped with the vast majority of their knives. I don't want them to lose this opinion many of us still maintain. I'll admit to recently buying three of the knives I lusted after when younger and poorer: Recon Scout, Taipan, and the flagship, the San Mai Tanto. The first Tanto from the river place, was returned for a slight grinding on the top edge of the blade, towards the tip. Absolutely consmetic, but I've waited too long to receive something not perfect. The second is a beauty. I want to pick some long desired knives up before QC goes away totally. Hope that never happens!

Snobs laugh at CS, but the brand is likely more combat proven (in modern times) than almost all others, with exceptions like Kabar.

Initially, I want to laugh at how terrible that is. Then I remember that not only are people's time, money, and effort being wasted on this nonsense, but they are actively destroying the Cold Steel Brand, and in quick order. And that pisses me off. I hope the payout was big Lynn...........

I'm not sure but they advertise that they will sharpen any Cold Steel knife at no charge. Just include $10 shiiping and get a return authorization number.

Send in any Cold Steel brand knife and we will sharpen it for free*! Just pay *$10.00 for Shipping and Handling. We do not sharpen other makes/manufacturers knives under any circumstance, as well as counterfeit knives or knives found to be fake. Cold Steel reserves the right to deny sharpening service to any knife that is unsafe or unable to be sharpened.

To return a Cold Steel brand Knife for sharpening. You must receive a Return Authorization number received from our Customer Service Team. You can reach them at 877-269-8490.
I don’t have direct experience with CS’s customer service, but based on the experiences shared by members here, I wouldn’t trust it. If we can’t even get a decent email reply, how can we expect a sharpened knife returned within a reasonable time frame?

jbmonkey jbmonkey Sorry to know about your experience, man. Whether for a $200 or $20 knife, that’s simply unacceptable.

I got into the knife game way too late. I only lusted after Cold Steel in 2019.

Getting help from Customer Service might not get you anywhere, but don't worry, they'll be right on time when it comes to uploading a new video to Youtube.

Their next "Deadliest Weapons" video can explain the advantages of having no edge on a machete.

"The edge on the Gladius Machete will never chip, dent, or roll, and it will never dull, because there is no edge!"

... new stock ... cold steel machete
.... not a sharp edge anywhere ....

I've been waiting for the Bowie and Black Bear Bowie Machetes to be restocked. Seems like they've been gone for the last year or two and have doubled in price during that time! To think that they may no longer be sharpening them makes one wonder just what's going on at GSM!

I have one of these. I really like it came razor sharp. I guess it's all over for GSM machete . I sharpen mine with a file. Best deal ever. 19 dollars a few years ago
