gsm strikes again.....Gladius machete oh boy......

I have two old (~3years) CS machetes - both came with an edge that wasn't great but not terrible.

GSM seems to forget they sell tools and not fancy decorations for mantelpieces.

While not entirely unexpected, this turn of events is still disappointing.

I'm glad I got my kukri mah-chet-tay quite a while ago.

Ditto, I got a totally unsharpened tip for the final 2 inches.
The rest of it is almost acceptable for a cheap machete edge, but the tip is a sick joke.
I doubt Stickman could poke it thru a rotting watermelon.

As shown, the tip is supposed to be sharpened all the way to the point.

^sorry ya got an unsharpened one too.......

I laugh emoji'ed the stickman watermelon comment......that made me chuckle. like to see that video.

Jeez, I have been farting around with metal detecting, then had the new knife urge, so I checked in. It is so sad to see a lot of (and more) of the same cheap junk being offered by GSM. The Cold Steel corpse has arisen.............. as a zombie.

hope ya found some good metal out there....any roman coins?🤣

a quick follow up. I received a call from the dealer this morning. turns out I did them a favor..as the whole inventory was like the ones they sent me and gsm was contacted and said basically oops oh well........

so yep we are gonna see more of this lack of care of quality and effort from gsm......hopefully they'll turn and sell it to a company that cares about their products and customers.........

They should have caught this sooner - almost all the 2022 reviews of this machete on the bookstore site are negative, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who decided not to buy any CS machetes until this is fixed.

Earlier this month I took a risk and bought a Kurkri Machete and it was sharpened. Not a great edge, but at least sharpened. It looked like someone took a pass on a grinder on each side and called it finished. At least it wasn't as bad as the GSM Gladius Machetes.

I immediately bought two more and they had a larger burr than the first, but that is still better than the new "GSM Special" edge.

It took me maybe two minutes on each machete to get usable edges, so that wasn't a big deal.

I suspect these were older stock.

If the new Axis Machete also comes edgeless it would be hilarious if people did performance comparisons with the Gerber Gator Machete.

Well, it's obvious GSM doesn't give a rat shit. I'm glad I ordered a Master Tanto just in time. It's a perfect knife. Except for the Dull-ex sheath of course.
Al long as GSM is the distributor, no more Cold Steel for me!

Heck , welp if GSM has to eventually deep discount all their unsharpened machetes , I could use a few more .

I can sharpen ! ;)

Poor GSM : Greedy plus stoopid is a tough way to go .

Some reviews for the Frontier Bowie mention the same dullness.

I'm not sure but they advertise that they will sharpen any Cold Steel knife at no charge. Just include $10 shiiping and get a return authorization number.

So the real cost for some CS products is the knife price + $10 sharpening fee + shipping cost to CS for sharpening.

I supposed in some cases, that's still not bad. Though if they couldn't do it right the first time...

They also have warranty repair and or replacement. Call and see what they can do for you.

If the Frontier Bowie has the same issue then if they don't fix it quickly we'll probably see it with all their Windlass products once the old supply is sold out.

I'm not sure if it is still the case, but in the past Windlass shipped their knives and swords with no edge and the companies in the US would either sharpen them when they arrived or offer a sharpening service.

GSM probably doesn't know that some of the products need to be sharpened when they arrive.

The knives from Taiwan and swords from China are probably safe since they are sharpened at their factories.
