GSO 20 request thread

It's amazing how many of my purchasing decisions are being dictated based on concerns for the fall outcome...hopefully we will still be able to get a gso-20 regardless! Clearly survive! Has more important things to worry about right now, but maybe this could debut with the folder?

All the talk in the 5.1 thread about concerns of making the 10 and 8 profitable make me think that such a niche model as the 20 would almost guarantee SURVIVE! would lose money.......... not to be a downer just thinking more figuring out might need to be done than we thought.

Sounds like a project for the Survive custom knife shop. Premium blades at premium prices! :)

Yea, I hadn't realized they had minimum grind orders! :( maybe each gso 20 could count as 4 regular blades??

If it would make things easier for the S! team, I'd be open to a more traditional Group Buy format. We need a commitment to buy on a minimum number of blades at X price, and once the minimum is met we'll have X number of weeks to increase the commitment of blades for quantity breaks.

S! doesn't have to commit to produce unless we get them to a comfortable quantity to maintain their production efficiencies and profit margins, and we get our tough as nails chopper. We all become a sales force for S! as we'll share in the price reduction associated with higher production volumes.

Just a thought. I'm open to anything that gets our blade produced.

I think this dream may only materialize when Guy & Ellie hit the first Million$ and I'm not talking Pesos or wheelbarrow full of Zimbabwe dollars ;)

You might be right, I got a seat bought on the GSO-10 flight, one of the last flights on the schedule but gotta get more seats filled before it can leave the ground. I imagine it would be even harder to get enough seats sold on flight GSO-20 to get it scheduled for take-off.

It's gonna take more than you wet blankets to put out the GSO20 fire! Even if only one gets made for funsies or experiment purposes...I'll take it. Crazy ideas don't run on realism, they run on unbridled enthusiasm for what might be possible...

Thanks for being you, khukoo

I'm definitely down for a GSO-20, there's a burning want for it, but is it enough to beat the cold.

The GSO-12 is relatively high up the production schedule because there's demand for a big chopper. The 8 and 10 are in the middle of the range with a lot of competition. It probably wouldn't be wise to do a very large production run for the GSO-20, but I'd imagine there's enough demand for it to justify a limited run, even if it has to be priced a bit higher than the regular range to compensate for the limited numbers.

What you would need to know is; what is the MOQ the grinder will accept. That will answer your question. Ellie said they will do a run with insufficient preorders to make the run profitable, as they did with the 12 because they plan to sell the extras over time. And it would be cool to have something in stock I'm sure. There are not enough 12's to make it profitable, and I doubt they want to run too many models close together that are short term losers.

This would definitely be a back burner project but maybe since a gso-20 is basically 4 knives they'd only need 1/4 the orders.....right?????

I bet we can get 20 reasons that the GSO 20 needs to become a reality up here pretty quick. I'll go first:

1. The woods behind my house are getting sorta wookie, and 20 inches of CPM 3V would be the absolute best way to bring them back into regulation. (That would be so much fun!)
