GSO-4.7 Cru Forge V

I know it takes a while but I was really thinking id have it by the end of august. I'm sure i'll be happy when I get it but the wait is a kick in the balls.

It's certainly taking much longer than I had the impression the CruV would take!

Hot off the Mail call today. Loving it all ready!

Just curious, and I probably missed it if the answer was already posted - but wouldn't all of the 4.7 preorders and presales have to be sent out before a new 4.7 (Cru Forge V)?

I had a longer answer, but it boiled down to: Nope.
Survive ships knives as the materials become available and as they find time to build them.
Overlap happens. :)

I posted in the wrong 4.7 thread in my excitement, but just got my shipping notice for my cfv!!!

So, just ordered (under Limited Edition) a GSO-4.7 Cru Forge V - Ugly Betty to go with presale/preorder of regular future arrival GSO-4.7 Cru Forge V. Anyone have any insight on how ugly an Ugly Betty is or what I can expect. Site says These knives may have major cosmetic blemishes or be out of normal tolerance specification, but since I have no firsthand experience with any Survive knives, not sure what that means for a "Survive Knive".

For example, on my Noveske Chainsaw (Blem) AR-15 Lower, almost impossible to tell except for the Noveske Chainsaw stamp. On my Canadian S35VN Blem Santoku the edge is obviously wavy and not close to symmetrical, but still razor sharp (BBQ Rib & Beer Can Chicken knife). Two nice products, two different levels of Blem, any thoughts on Survive experiences. My thought was this knife may already be built and ugly, so I may get it sooner and be unafraid to pound it a bit due to it's ugliness upon receipt.

Don't know about how the flaws will look as I think that will vary from knife to knife, but I did ask if they would have the ugly betty etching on them and they will.

ndmiller, you're among the first to own and ugly betty, so you'll be able to tell us! I would bet that there will be no wavy edges or anything that compromises performance. I would also think that even as uglies, Guy wouldn't ship something that the owner couldn't place his life on. I may be wrong, but that's my guess. With the cruforge uglies, I'd expect cerakote unevenness. Maybe big dings or scratches or mismatched bevels.

I'm also anxious to know if these ship immediately. That is the case with the custom 5.1'S, right? I'm guessing you're right that these are built and ugly and ready to go.

Looking forward to you getting yours!

That is a considerable discount on the UB 4.7 CFV.
Edit:
Such a discount that I bought one.
In other news Survive! order numbers have cracked the 10,000 mark.

In my rush to buy it, I forgot all about the Cerakote. I think you're right on. Will take pictures when she arrives and name her appropriately.

Too bad we couldn't see a picture, pick a name and have that engraved. For example, ugly Sheila, ugly Freda, ugly mama.

I'm also guessing that the flaws in these will be mostly Cerakote problems. If they were badly flawed when naked steel why would they have paid to have them coated?
Having paid for the coating wouldn't you want to recoup the cost?
If it really is as ugly as they claim I'll just make it a truck knife. Nobody cares what a truck knife looks like. :)
Edit: Besides, even an Ugly Betty will look better than my truck...
