Gso-4.7

Only heard about one in the wild so far.

Unless you're asking about who has one on preorder, then I'm in for that.
 
Really excited for these BTW. I held off on the 5's because of them. Now I'm thinking I should have grabbed a 5 to tide me over, ha!
 
I think between the lengthy refinishing process of the compromised 5.1's and Guy's family emergency it is going to be awhile. It SUCKS about the 5.1's that are going months beyond the forecast, but I'm just waiting for my order, I can't imagine the feeling in the shop when a whole bunch of material showed up not ready to sharpen and ship. Dang! At least Guy has the means to fix it.

I was really hoping to see my 4.7 in Februrary, but after seeing a guy in the Facebook group complain about no Monday sales happening this week, I realized I need to simmer down. Life happens and I'm glad Guy has the priorities he does. My 4.7 will get here when it gets here. I'm ready :D

Yeah, you're right. "GSO-4.7: Preorders are scheduled to be shipping out now through March."

I think Redwood has it pegged though, what with the last of the 5.1 presale knives and Guy being gone. I know pjandyho and I have presale 3V awaiting fulfillment. Maybe my 5.1 and 4.7 will ship together, that'd be cool.

I have one as well, which is what made me think that's whats holding things up. It's life you know! I'm sure they will also be happy when this batch gets done, I'm sure its no fun to redo work they weren't expecting (or have family emergencies) I also don't have a 4.7 on order, which might be why I am so calm :) I am now personally excited about the much beloved but oft not talked about new spec 4.1...I think I may just have to grab one of those extra's when they come around.
 
That new spec 4.1 looks like a winner. That extra bit of handle should be just about right. I'm thinking the same thing, try to snag an extra if it comes up. It's going to be interesting to see what the Monday sales evolve into by then.

yea, I figure I will bide my time and try not to think too much about it haha. I really like the 4.7 as well,...and well all of them... I just figure I could space out the purchases a bit by skipping a model here or there at least initially...sigh, hopeless cause.
 
Lol. That is exactly what I end up doing. Now that the 4.7s and 2.7s are getting closer, I'm thinking wow that 4.1 sure does look good. Oh, and the 4.5 bushcraft, it's the thinnest of the line, I really need one of those.......and on and on.

You're right, resistance is futile! :D

I'm trying not to think about this!!!! I have a feeling that was put up before the family emergency. I truly want Guy to take the time he needs because like we've all said, family and this particular situation, need to come first. Whenever he's able to get back to work if there are still 5.1's that need attention, I'm accepting more of a wait on the 4.7's. I thought there was a little limbo period from when 5.1's were first announced as shipping to when people started getting them. Not to be negative but rather being realistic with everything going on, I don't have an expectation of a March delivery, but I would be pleasantly surprised if it did work out that way. I just hope Guy continues honoring family before the production schedule.

The stock thickness really is the biggest difference between those three (4.1, 4.5, 4.7) because the lengths are all within a few tenths.
The 4.7 really is pretty thick for a sub five inch blade.

The 2.7 is getting closer and I'm hoping to snag one in the worst way and also a 4.1 if the opportunity arises. I will be ordering the 4.5 which in my book looks perfect. The bright news is my 5.1 shipped today. :) I'm heading to my land this weekend hoping to put it to use.

They have been shipping out... in low numbers. Every so often Guy slips a GSO-4.7 into the line when he is getting tired of doing the same thing over and over. Once he gets back and the last of those 3V GSO-5.1s gets out there should be some larger numbers of GSO-4.7s shipping out.

It really is a brute of a knife. I'd like to see a 4.7 get used by a SERE instructor to get there thoughts on the knife. It seems to fulfill a lot of the requirements even though it may not be intended as a tactical knife.

I love the dimensions of my GSO 5, but someday when I get my hands on a Mora, I may understand better.

That makes total sense. I'm excited, but not in a hurry especially with recent, personal developments. We're rootin' for ya!

I can't remember if it was facebook or instagram, but I specifically remember Guy saying the 4.7 was his take on a SERE knife :thumbup:
